BUILDING PERMIT ISSUANCE TIME FRAME
If this permit requires a Town of Vail Fire Department Approval, Engineer's (Public Works)
review and approval, a Planning Department review or Health Department review, and a
review by the Building Depaftment, the estimated time for a total review will take as long
as three (3) weeks.
All commercial (large or small) and all multi-family permits will have to follow the above
mentioned maximum requirements. Residential and small projects should take a lesser
amount of time. However, if residential or smaller projects impact the various above
mentioned departments with regard to necessary review, these projects may take five
(5) weeks to review and approve.
Every attempt will be made by this depaftment to expedite this permit as soon as
possible.
I, the undersigned, understand the plan check procedure and time frame. I also
understand that if the permit is not picked up by the expiration date, that I must still pay
the plan check fee and that if I fail to do so it may affect future permits that I apply For.

If yes was answered to any of the questions hen a 'Public Way" permit is required. You
can pick up an application at either Community Development locabd at 75 Soudr Fronbge
Road or Public Works, located at 1309 Elkhorn Drive.
> Notice sign-offs for utility companies. ALL utilities must field verifu (locate) respecbve
utilities prior to signing applicabon. Some utility companies require up to 48 hours notice to
schedule a locab.
! A construction traffic control/sbging plan must be prepared on a sepamte sheet of paper.
An approved site plan may also be used. This plan will show locations of all traffic control
devices (slgns, cones, etc.) and he work zone, (area of construction, sbging, etc.). This
plan will expire on November 1st and will need to be resubmitted for considemtion for
approval trrough the winter. Be aware that your resubmission for winter may be denied
depending on the location of construction.
! Skebh of work being performed must be submitted Indicating dimensions (lengh, width
and deplfr of work). This may be drawn on the traffic control plan or a site plan for the job.
> Submit completed application to tre Public Work's office for review. If required, locabs will
be scheduled for the Town of Vail electricians and irrigation crew. The locates bke place in
the morning, but may require up to 48 hours to perform.
i The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the application and approve or deny
the permit. You will be conbcted as to the sbtus and any requiremenE Utat may be
needed. Most permiE are released wiUrin 48 hours of belng received, but please allow up
to one (1) week to process.
! As soon as the permit is approved, the Building Departrnent will be notified, allowing Sre
"Building Permit" to be released. Please do not confuse the'Public Way Permit" with a
"Building Permit".
) NOTE: The above process is for vvork in a public way ONLY. Public Way
Permits are valid only until November 15th. A new Public Way Permit is required
each year if worl< is not complete. Re-application each l'trovember 15th does not
mean an aubmatic renewal. (
