All commercial (large or small) and all multi-family permits will have to follow the above mentioned maximum requirements. Residential and small projects should take a lesser amount of time. However, if residential or smaller projects impact the various above mentioned depaftments with regard to necessary review, these projects may also take three (3) weeks to review and approve. Every attempt will be made by this department to expedite this permit as soon as posslble. I, the undersigned, understand the plan check procedure and time frame. PUBLIC WORKS PER]VIIT PROCESS How it relates to Buildins Permits Fill out our check list provided with a Building Permit Application If yes was answered to any of the questions then a "Public Way" is required. You can pick up an application at either Community Development, located at 75 South Frontage Road or Public Works, located at 1309 Vail Valley Drive. Notice sign offs for utility companies. All utilities must field verify (locate) respective utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies require up to 48 hours notice to schedule a locate. A construction traffic control/staging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet of paper. An approved site plan may also be used. This plan will show locations of all traffrc control devices (signs, cones, etc.) and the work zone, (area of Construction, Staging, etc.). This plan will expire on November I st and will need to be resubmitted for approval through the winter. Sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length, width and depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffic control plan or a site plan for the job. Submit completed application to the Public Work's office for review. If required, locates will be scheduled for the Town of Vail Electricians and Irrigation crew The locates take place in the morning, but may require up to 48 hours to perform. The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the application and approve or disapprove the permit. You will be contacted asto the status and any requirements that may be needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of being received, but please allow up to one ( 1 ) week to process. As soon as the permit is processed, a copy will be faxed to Community Development allowing the "Building Permit" to be released. Please do not confuse the "Public Way Permit" with a "Building Permit" which is to do work on a project itself. NOTE: The above process is for work in a public way ONLY. Public Way Permits are valid only until November 15'n. A new Public Way Permit is required each year if work is not complete. (WALSH) has performed an asbstos inspection of the above-referenced residence. The objective of this inspection was to identify the location and extent of asbestos-containing building materials (ACM) in the structure prior to construction or demolition that may affect these materials. Bulk samples of various suspect materials were obtained and submitted to an independent laboratory for polarized light microscopic analyses. Six (6) samples were collected. WAISH conducted this asbestos survey in accordance with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) protocol, which is mandated by Colorado Regulation No. 8 and EPA regulations. The inspection confirmed that regulated levels of asbestos exists in both types of linoleum. Tar-impregnated roofing material is also assumed to be asbestos containing. Abatement of the linoleum is required prior to construction or demolition activities that will affect it. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) must issue a demolition permit prior to structure demolition; a permit application is included in Appendix D. Once the asbestos has been abated, the CDPHE requires two weeks for permit issuance. Additionally, the facility receiving the demolition waste must be notified that they may be receiving a Category I, non-friable asbestos-containing material if roofing is contained in the demolition debris. Bulk asbestos samples were analyzed using EPA Method 600/R-93/116. WALSH recommends getting an asbestos abatement contractor to remove the linoleum in the bathrooms and the pantry. The kitchen floor should be checked to determine if the linoleum is present underneath the ceramic floor tile; if so, it also must be abated prior to remodeling that would affect it. After abatement, the demolition permit is to be completed and submitted to the air pollution control division of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
