A. Unlarfirl deposits: Subject to subsection C thereot it is untavrfirl for any person to litteq
track or deposit, or cause to be littered, tracked or deposited. sand, gravel, rocks, mud, dirt'
snow, ice, or any other debris or material upon any street, sidewalk, alley or public place, or
any portion thereof.
B. Notice: Abatement: The Director of Public Works may notifu and require any person who
violates or causes another to violate the provision of subsection A hereof, or who has in the
Director's employment a person who violates or causes another to violate the same, top
remove such sand, gravel, rocks, mud, dirt, snow, ice or any other debris or material within
twenty four (24) hours after receipt of said notice by the Director of Public Works. In the
event the person so notified does not comply with the notice within the period of time herein
specified, the Director of Public Works" or other authorized agent, may cause any such sand'
gravel, rocks, mud, drrt, snow, ice, debris or any other material to be removed from any street
or alley at the expense ofthe notified.
C. Exceptions: The provisions of subsection A hereof shall not be applicable:

street or alley or of any water main, setver main, electricity line, gas line, telephone line
or any appurtenarce thereto;

D. Summons; Penalty: As an alternative to the notice for removal provided in subsection B
above, any
person who violates or causes another to violate the same, may be isslred a summons to
appear before the Municipal Court of the Torvn for said violations, and upon being found
g"ilty ofu violation hereunder be punished as provided in Section l-4-l of this code.

the
Director of Public Works as provided in subsection B hereof, and any such person shall, in
addition to pavment of the expense of removal incurred by the Director of Public Works, as
provided in-subsection B hereof, upon being found guilty ofa violation hereunder, be
punishable as provided in Section t-4-1 ofthis code. (1997 Code: ordinance 6 (1979)

BUILDING PERMIT ISSUANCE TIME FRAME
If this permit requires a Town of Vail Fire Department Approval. Engineer's (Public Works)
review and approval, a Plarming Department review of Health Deparrnent review, and a review
by the Building Departrnent, the estimated trme for a total review may take as long as three (3)
weeks.
All commercial (large or small) and all multi-family permits will have to follow the above
mentioned marimum requirements. Residential and small projects should take a lesser amount of
time. Horvever, if residential or smaller projects impact the various above mentioned
departrnents rvith regard to necessary review, these projects may also take the three (3) week
period. I
Every attempt will bc made by this departrnent to expedite this permit as soon as possible.

PUBLIC WORKS PERJIIIT PROCESS
How it relates to Buildins Permits
Fill out our check list provided with a Building Permit Application.
If yes was answered to any of the questions then a "Public Way" is required. You
can pick up an application at either Community Development, located at 75 South
Frontage Road or Public Works, located at 1309 Vail Valley Drive.
Notice sign offs for utility companies. All utilities must field veri$ Qocate)
respective utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies require up
to 48 hours notice to schedule a locate.
A construction traffic controVstaging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet of
paper. An approved site plan may also be used. This plan will show locations of
all traffrc control devices (signs, cones, etc.) and the work zone, (area of
Construction, Staging, etc.). This plan will expire on November lst and will need
to be resubmitted for approval through the winter.
Sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length,
width and depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffic control plan or a site
plan forthejob.
Submit completed application to the Public Work s office for review. If required,
locates will be scheduled for the Town of Vail Electricians and Irrigation crew.
The locates take place in the morning, but may require up to 48 hours to perform.
The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the application and
approve or disapprove the permit. You will be contacted as to the status and any
requirements that may be needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of
being received, but please allow up to one (l) week to process.
As soon as the permit is processed, a copy will be faxed to Community
Development allowing the "Building Permit" to be released. Please do not
confuse the "Public Way Permit" with a "Building Permit" which is to do work
on a project itself.
NOTE:
The above process is for work in a public way ONLY.
Public Way Permits are valid only until November 15ft.
A new Public Way Permit is required each year if work is not complete.

2) Notice sign offs for utility companies. All utitities must fietd verify (tocate)respective utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies iequire ufto a 48 hour notice to schedule a locate.
3) A construction traffic controUstaging plan must be prepared on a separate sheetof paper.An approved site plan may also be used. ' This ptan wilt show locationsof alt traffic rltrgr devices(signs, cones, etc..) and the work zone, larii oiconstruction' lqaging, etc..). This plan wili expiie on Oct- 1sth. and ritt'neeo tobe resubmitted for approvalthrough the wintei.
4) Sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length,width & depth of work). This may be drawn on the tratfic controt ptan or a siteplan for the job.
5) Submit completed application to the Public Works's office for review. lf required,locates will be scheduled for the Town of vaitElectricians and lrrigation cre*- f6-elocates take place in the morning but, may require up to 49 hours to perform.
6) The Public worJ< s Construction Inspector will review the application and approveor disapprove the permit. You will be contacted as to the siatus and any trril maineeded. Most permits are released within 48 hours of being received, but pteas6allow up to one week to process.
7) As soon as the permit is processed,. a copy will be faxed to communityDevelopment allowing.the "Building Permit'to beieleased. please do not confusethe "Public Way Permit" with a "auiuing Permit" to dJ work on a project itself.

'The Town of Vail Public ttorks Departnent rill be reguired toinspect and approve drainage adjacent to Torn of Vail roads orstreets and tbe installation of temporary or permanent culverts ataccess points from tbe road or street on to tbe construction site.Such approval must be obtained prior to any request for inspectionby the Town of Vail Building Department for footings or temporaryelectrical or any other inspection. please call 4'?9-2L60 torequest an inspection from the Public Works Department. Allow aminimum of 24 hour notice.

Effective June 20, L99L, the Town of Vail Building Department hasdeveloped the following procedures to ensure that new constructionsites have adeguately established proper drainage from buildingsites along and adjacent to Town of Vail roads or streets.
The Town of Vail Public gtorks Departmeat rill be required toinspect and approve drainage adjacent to Town of Vail roads orstreets and tbe installatioa of temporary or permanent culverts ataccess points fron the road or street on to the construction site.Such approva] must be obtained prior to any reguest for inspectionby the Town of Vail Building Department for footings or temporaryelectrical or any other inspection, please calf 479-2L60 torequest an inspection from the Public Works Department. Allow a
minimum of 24 hour notice.
A1so, the Town of Vail Public hlorks Department will be approvingall final drainage and culvert instalration with resulting roadpacching as necessary. Such approval must be obtained prior toFi.nal Certificate of Occupancy issuance.
