Amendment to the 2002 N.E.C. Town of Vail Ordinance 4, Series of 2O05
Overhead seruices are not allowed in the Town of Vail.
Underground seryices have to be in conduit (PVC) from the transformer to the electric meter, main disconnect
switch and to the first electrical distribution circuit breaker panel.
The main disconnect switch shall be located next to the meter on the exterior wall of the structure easily
accessible.
All underground conduib are required to be inspected before back-filling the trench.
In multi-family dwelling units, no electrical wiring or feeder cables shall pass from one unit to another. Common
walls and spaces are accepted.
NM Cable (Romex) is not allowed in commercial buildings or structures exceeding three (3) stories,
No use of aluminum wire smaller than size #8 will be permitted with the Town of Vail.
TOWN OF VAIL ELECTRICAL PERMIT GUIDELINES
All installations of exterior hot tubs or spats require a DRB approval from planning. This application will
not be accepted without a copy of the DRB approval form atbached (if applicable).
If this permit is for installation of an exterior hot tub or spa on a new elevated platform or deck over
30" above grade, you must also obtain a building permit.
If this permit is for installation of an elterior hot tub or spa on any existing deck or elevated platform,
a structural engineer must review the existing condition and veriff that it will support the added
concentrated load. Please provide a copy of the structural engineers wet stamped letter or drawing
with this application.
If this is a remodel in a multi-family building with a homeowners association, a letter of permission
from the association is required.
If this permit is for a commercial space, two (2) sets of stamped drawings are required.

Thank you for submitting an application for design review of a deck enclosure at the above-referenced address. I
have staff approved the application on two conditions:
1. All disturbed landscaping shall be replaced according to a specific landscaping plan tci be
submitted prior to the applicant's request for Temporary Certificate of Occupancy.
2. All materials shall match existing.
Per our conversation, the Ridge at Vail was platted to allow lor 12,500 square feet of GRFA on Lot 5. I calcutated
both the original plans and the plans which you submitted for review. lt appears that the total Gross Residential
Floor Area (GRFA) currently in existence at Unit C is 2,562 square feet. After 131 .77 square feet of additional
lloor area is constructed as part of this 250 addition request, the total square lootage ol Unit C will be 2,693.77
square feet.
The site coverage increase that will result from this addition must not resuh in a total net footage of over 20olo of
the entirety ol Lot 5, which I have now verified. Lot 5 consists of 'l .2957 acres (56,440 square feet). Therelore
the twenty percent site coverage amount allotted to all six units is 11,288 square leet. The site coverage amount
occupied by all six units today is 10,315 square feet, not including the 131.77 additional square leet that will result
from this approval. The total site coverage at the Ridge (Lot 5) will remain around 18.5% after the addition.

BUILDING PERMIT ISSUANCE TIME FRAME
If this permit requires a Tswn of Vail Fire Department Approval, Engineer's (Public Works)
review and approval, a Planning Department review or Health Department review, and a
review by the Building Department, the estimated time for a total review will take as long
as three (3) weeks.
All commercial (large or small) and all multi-family permits will have to follow the above
mentioned maximum requirements. Residential and small projects should take a lesser
amount of time. However, if residential or smaller projects impact the various above
mentioned departments with regard to necessary review, these projects may take five
(5) weeks to review and approve.
Every attempt will be made by this department to expedite this permit as soon as
possible.

If yes was answered to any of the quesflons then a Yublic Way" permit is required, You
can pick up an application at either Community Development, locabd at 75 Soutt Frontage
Road or Public.Works, locaEd at 1309 Elkhorn Drive.
Notice sign-offs for utility companies. ALL utilities must field verifo (locate) 'respectlve
utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies require up to 48 hours notice b
schedule a locaE.
A construction traffic control/staging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet of paper.
An approved site plan may also be used, This plan will show locations of all traffic control
devices (signs, cones, etc.) and $te work zone, (area of construction, sbging, eb'). This
plan will expire on November 1st and will need to be resubmitted for consideration for
approval trrough he winter. Be aware hat your resubmission for winter may be denied
depending on the location of construction.
Skebh of work being performed must be submifted indicating dimensions (length, width
and depth of work). This may be drawn on he traffic control plan or a site plan for the job'
Submit completed application to the Public Work's office for review. If required, locabs will
be scheduled for he Town of Vail electricians and irrigation crew. The locates take place in
the moming, but may require up to 48 hours to perform.
The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the application and approve or deny
the permil You will be conbc@d as to he status and any requirements that may be
needed, Most permib are released within 48 hours of being received, but please allow up
to one (1) week to process.
As soon as the permit is approved, tre Buibing Deparlrnent will be notified, allowing the
"Building Permit" to be released. Please do not confuse the'Public Way Permit" with a
"Building Permit".
NOTE: The above process is for r,vork in a public way QNLY. Public way
Permits are valid only until November 15th. A new Public Way Permit is required
each year if vnork is not complete. Re-application each ltlovember 15th doep not
mean an aubmatic renewal. r '

DRAINAGE AND CULVERT INSPECTIONS ARE REOUIRED BY PUBLIC WORKS!
Please read and check off each of the items below:
The Town of Vail Building Department has developed the following procedures to ensure that new
construction sites have adequately established proper drainage from building sites along and
adjacent to Town of Vail roads or streets.
The Town of Vail Public Works Depaftment will be required to inspect and approve drainage
adjacent to Town of Vail roads or streets and the installation of temporary or permanent culvefts at
access points from the road or street onto the construction site. Such approval must be obtained
prior to any requests for inspection by the Town of Vail Building Department for footings,
temporary electrical or any other inspection. Please call Leonard Sandoval at 479-2198 to request
an inspection from the Public Works Department. Allow a minimum of 24 hour notice.
Also, the Town of Vail Public Works Department will be approving all final drainage and culveft
installation with resulting road patching as necessary. Such approval musL be obtained prior to any
Final Certificate of Occupancy issuance.

deposit or cause to be littered, tracked or deposited, sand, gravel, rocks, mud, dift, snow, ice, or any
other debris or material upon any stree! sidewalk, alley or public place, or any portion thereof.
q Notice; Abatement: The Director of Public Worla may notifo and require any person who violates or
causes anober b violate the provision of subsection A hereof, or who has in the Director's employment
a pe6on who violabs or causes another to violate the same, top remove such sand, gravel, rock, mud,
dirt,.snow, ice or any ofrer debris or material within twenty four (24) hours after receipt of said notice
by Sre Director of Public Works. In the event the person so notified does not comply with the notice
within the period of time herein specified, he Director of Public Works, or oher auhorized agent, may
cause any such sand, gravel, rocks, mud, dirt, snow, ice, debris or any other material to be removed
from any street or alley at the expense of the notified.
o Summons and Penalty: As an alternative to the notice for removal provided in subsection B above,
any person who violates or causes another to violate fie same, may be issued a summons to appear
before fie Municipal Court of the Town for said violations, and upon being found guilty of a violation
hereunder be punished as provided in Section 14"1 of this code.
o Notice and Penalty: It is unlawful for any person to fail or refuse to comply with the notice of the
Director of Public Works as provided in subsection B hereof, and any such person shall, in addition to
payment of the expense of removal incurred by tre Director of Public Works, as provided in subsection B
hereof, upon being found guilty of a violation hereunder, be punishable as provided in Section 1-4-1 of
this Code. (1997Code: Ordinance 6 (1979).

the charges for towing and storage of such vehicle shall be charged to the owner of he vehicle in
