plication for Design Review cannot be accepted until all required information is received by the Community Development
Department. Design review approval expires one year from the date of approval, unless a building permit is issued and
construction commences.

I am enclosing a copy of a letter I have received from Mr. Martin Haeberle, Chief
Building Official of the town of Vail. In his letter Mr. Haeberle confirms that "...the use of
concrete pavers for a landing at an exit door located at 1881 Lions Ridge Loop #13...would meet
the requirement for the surface material of the landing".
As we discussed and explained in my prior correspondence, I am attempting to
accommodate the wishes of the board of the association with respect to this landing. You have
told me that the board has no problem with the installation of a landing that meets the
requirements of the town of Vail.
What I have proposed (and you and I discussed) is the installation of concrete pavers
which are approved by the town. These pavers are approximately one foot square and 1 '/2
inches thick. They would be installed four feet wide and three feet for the travel portion of the
landing.
Mary Sue, I have now met with the town of Vail at least four times regarding this matter.
It is my understanding that the town has received numerous calls from board representatives.
This is a needless waste of the town's, the board's and my time.
My time availability is very limited. Therefore, in order that this matter might be
resolved as requested by Mr. Buxton, I request that the board sign the "Joint Property Owner
Written Approval Letter" and return it to me as soon as possible so that I may commence the
work.

This letter is response to your question as to the use of concrete pavers for a landing at
an exit door located at 1881 Lions Ridge Loop #13. Concrete pavers would meet the
requirement for the surface material of the landing; reference section R311.4.3 IRC 2003
edition. The minimum width of the landing shall be the width of the door. The minimum
dimension of the travel portion of the landing shall be 36".
