Call to Order 2. No citizen Participation 3. Main Agenda 3.1 Swearing in of Board members for two-year terms by Town Clerk: • Tracy Gordon, Kathy Langenwalter, Lindsea Stowe 3.2 Appointment of an AIPP Board Chair and Vice-Chair to facilitate meetings in absence of Chair. • Lindsea Stowe, Chair • Tracy Gordon, Vice-Chair 3.3 Approval of March 4, 2024 minutes. March 4, 2024 Minutes.pdf 3.4 Progress report on sculpture commission by Squire Broel/Artist in Residence Summer 2023. • Squire reviews the center core, development of upper portion, molding process, wax copies and casting. • He is on schedule for a mid-July installation date. • We are reviewing options for a temporary base for flexibility in installation locations. • The Board unanimously approves the progress update of the sculpture commission and payment of the second installment in the contract. 3.5 Proposal for GoPro Mountain Games Summer 2024 mural at Vail Village Parking Structure. • Timmy Ham/artist & Morgan Kelleher/Vail Valley Foundation Sr. Marketing Manager Athletics present to the Board. • The VVF worked with Timmy Ham at last year’s GoPro Collab Stage and decided to commission him for this year’s GoPro mural collaboration with AIPP. • The mural activation will be accompanied with music to make it an attraction during the Games. • First draft proposal sketch incorporates vibrant colors, silhouette of activities on a background of mountains. There will be sky, rivers, mountains, and a Colorado themed rising sun. It will have a “happy summer life vibe.” • Morgan mentions Timmy’s substantial social media presence as an artist/athlete. He will also have a videographer for a YouTube video. He is planning to include our social media handles and any links. we may want to incorporate. • Timmy will present a more realized proposal at the May 6 Board meeting. Preliminary sketch. 3.6 Artist in Residence (AIR) Strategic Plan updates. • Molly discusses the AIR document intended as a reference tool for artists to learn about the residency on the artinvail.com site. • It will also serve as a tool for potential donors of the AIR. • Molly will ask Nine Dot Arts where parameters/house rules around the uses of the building during a residency should be included. • Molly will report feedback to Nine Dot Arts and ask them to zoom at the May 6 meeting. • The Board will have an internal working calendar to start versus having it published in the plan. • Lindsea remarks that we need to engage the individuals previously discussed to form the support group around AIR. 3.7 Summer programs and Artist in Residency update. • The Board reviews the working calendar for AIPP summer and AIR programs. • June 6 – 9: VVF/GoPro Mural • June 10 - 22: Danielle SeeWalker AIR o Mural at pedestrian entrance by Slifer Square of Vail Village parking structure o Selection of Red Road Project photography on view in Council Chambers during Summer o Hands on art project – ParFleche o Coloring pages at Vail Public Library o June 18 possible introduction to Council o June 19 – Vail Symposium event and book signing • June 20 – 23: Emilio Garcia Placensia artist present during Sinfonica de Mineria Bravo residency • July 17-19: Installation of Squire Broel’s commissioned sculpture 3.8 Marketing and advertising Summer 2024 plan and budget. • The Board motions to have ½ page ads in Covered Bridge Magazine and in Spoke and to reach a new and broader audience. 4. Coordinator Updates • VRD Imagination Station Doors – The Board will recommend a budget and assist VRD with a call for artists to paint the doors drawing attention to Imagination Station entrance. • The architects for the AIR studio are proposing an outswing iron French door in lieu of garage overhead door which the Board agrees should work well for programming. • Molly has a meeting with someone interested in donating a bronze sculpture of a skier on a bench to the TOV public art collection. She will review the donation application process with the interested party. The donation application outlines the parameters approved by Town Attorney for consideration to the public art collection.
