GENERAL NOTES
1. Any shallow utility conduit not supplied by the respective utility company shall be Schedule 40 unless noted
otherwise.

construction, and that are intended to remain, to the satisfaction of the Engineer and the respective utility ounnpuny

16. The Contractor is warned that conflicts with existing utilities may exist, including shallow utUit|ea, culverts,
sub-drains, roof drains, irrigation lines, water and sewer lines, street light o|eotr/o service |inou etc. Prior to beginning
any construction, the Contractor ahoU contact all appropriate utility companies for line locations. He uhoU then |000to
all utilities (including depth). Any conflicts with the proposed construction ahoU be brought to the attention of the
Engineer no that minor line or grade changes can be made to *|ino/nota any conflicts with these existing utilities. All
existing utilities ahoU be protected from dornog* by the Contractor at no expense to the Owner.
17. Contractor ahoU obtain at his expense all permits and inspections which are necessary to perform the proposed
work.
18. All construction ahoU conform to municipal or district standards and specifications and be subject to
construction observation by their representatives. Copies of municipal and district standards must be obtained by the
Contractor.
19. Contractor ehoU not aoo|o drawings for construction purposes. Any rn|aaing dimensions or diaonaponoioo in plans,
field staking, or ohvaico| features ahoU be brought to the attention of the Engineer. If Contractor proceeds with the
work without notifying the Engineer, he does so at his own hok'
20. Observations of the work in progress and on site visits are not to be construed as o guarantee or warranty by
the Engineer of the Contractor's contractual responsibilities.
21. The Owner will provide certain construction staking. The Contractor is advised that this may not be all of the
atokoo he will need. Additional staking will be at the Contractor's expense.
22. Safety is the responsibility of the Contractor. The Engineer is not responsible for safety in on, or about the
project site, nor for compliance by the appropriate party with any regulations relating hereto.
23. The Contractor ahoU provide all lights, oigno, bonicodea flagmen, or other devices necessary to provide for public
safety in 0000rdono* with the current Manual on Uniform TroMlo Control Devices or as required by the Town of Vail.
24. The General Contractor is to protect all trees that are to be preserved during construction operations.
25. Contractor ahoU restore and/or replace all disturbed landscaping and sod to o condition equal to or better than
the pre-construction state and to the satisfaction of the owner.
26. The Contractor is responsible to install and maintain sediment control measures to insure that sediment-laden
water does not |oovo the site. Certain sediment control details have been shown on the detail sheet. These details
may not be all the measures necessary to provide adequate sediment and erosion control. If sediment control
nneoaurea bacunne neueoeory, Contractor ahoU provide ongoing inspection and maintenance of all sediment control
features.
27. Stabilize all points of ingress and egress with crushed atone to prevent tracking of mud onto public ways. The

1. TRENCH AND CONDUIT
1. Holy Cross Energy provides all conduits, vaults and pads. The contractor provides the excavation, |natoUotkxn and
bookfiU. Trench will be excavated deep enough to ensure that the too of installed power facilities will be 48" below
finished grade. Special oona must be taken to ensure that the top of conduits will be 48^ below the bottom of
drainage ditches and all other low areas. Where initial excavation is less than 48" in depth due to planned
subsequent fill, service will not be provided until final grade is reached.
2. Trench will be as straight as possible between vaults and nhoU have o smooth bottom free of rocks. A Minimum
be placed over any rocks left in the trench to cover rocks or smooth out lo* p|000e, will be
compacted prior to conduit installation and the trench bottom regraded.

3' Power facilities to be placed poroUo| to deeper utilities ohoU have o horizontal separation from the deeper utility
greater than the vertical oapopot|on between the two utilities. When crossing o deeper utility is unavoidable, the
crossing will be mode as close to perpendicular as possible.

must be maintained between the power fooiUt|oa and the other utilities. In no 0000 will facilities of another utility
installed in the trench be placed at o greater depth than the power facilities.
5' Bock fill and compaction shall be performed as required by the governmental entity or other agency having
jurisdiction.
S' Conduit joints ohoU be knocked completely home during gluing. A pull string will be placed through each conduit
and tied off in the vault at each end. No unneceouory bends will be allowed in conduit runs. Any bend allowed will
not be closer than 5 feet to o vault. Changes in construction from that shown on the project plans will not be
made without prior written approval from Holy Cross Energy. A wire brush will be pulled through each conduit, after
installation is connp|ete, to remove rocks and other foreign items.
7' Conduit ahoU be covered with at least 4" of rock-free oo|| or aood prior to bock fill. Large rocks ehoU not be
pushed in directly on top of this 4" cover. Core must be token to avoid damage to conduits or oob|oe during bock
fill and compaction.
O. Holy Cross Energy must inspect all conduit installation before the conduit is covered and again after covering, but
prior to book fill.
S. Conduits ending outside o vault mho|| be copped and marked with o 4" x 4' post. Individual conduits shall enter
each vault at o consistent location.
10. Red trench marking tape will be supplied by Holy Cross Energy and oho|> be installed 10" above the conduit or
cable during bank fill.
11. VAULTS
1. Vaults ahoU be installed as follows:
A. Splice vaults shall be installed with the nnunho|o at or slightly below final grade.
B. Transformer vaults and switch gear vaults will be installed with the bottom of the pod at final grade.
C. Where vaults are not into hillsides or sloped cuts, the downhill side of the vault will be graded according to
A. or B. above. The slope behind the vault will be |o|d bock sufficiently to prohibit soil or rocks from sloughing into
the pad-mounted equipment or onto the manhole. If the slope cannot be laid book for enough o retaining vvoU ohoU
be constructed behind the vault.
D. All vaults will be installed so that the top pod is parallel to the finish rood grade.
E. Pads or lids will be p/000d at the time of vault installation unless otherwise requested by Holy Cross Energy.

of the vault pod or vault lid.

1. Obtain o Public Way permit from the Town of Vail Department of Public Works. / 58. Obtain all required building permits
through the Town of Vail Department of Community Deve 75 EL Frontage Road, Vail, CO, E1657.
2- All contractors ahoU be licensed to perform work within the Town of Vail. Obtain and pay for contractor's |(nona* at the Town of Vail
Department of Community Devo|opmont, 75 S. Frontage Rood, Vail, CO 81857.
3. The contractor uhoD obtain all necessary atondorda, specifications, permito, bonds, etc. from all applicable agencies prior to
commencement of construction.
4. The public and the Town of Yoi/ will have the right occupy the public Right of Way and adjacent facilities duhng the entire period of
construction. Perform site work operations to minimize conflicts and to facilitate use of the premises and conduct of nonno| operations.
5. All mutoho|a. *orkrnonohip, and construction of public improvements aho|| meet or exceed the standards and specifications set forth in
the Town of Vail Code, Development Standards Handbook, Construction Details and opp|ioob|o state and federal regulations. Where there is
conflict between these plans and the opeoificotionn, or opp|iuob|o standards, the most restrictive standard ohoU opp|y. All work oho|l be
inspected and approved by the Town of Vail.
8. All references to any published standards ahoU refer to the latest revision of said standard, unless specifically stated otherwise.
7. The engineer who has prepared these plans, by execution and/or neo| hereof, does hereby affirm responsibility to the Town of VoU, as
beneficiary of said engineer's work, for any errors and omissions contained in these p|one and approval of these plans by the Town of Vail
Engineer ehoU not relieve the engineer who has prepared these plans of all such responsibility. Further, to the extent permitted by |n* the
engineer hereby agrees to hold honn)*oa and indemnify the Town of Vail, and its officers and employees, from and against all liabilities and
damages which may oho* from any negligent errors and omissions contained in these plans.
8. All sanitary sewer, storm oo*or, and voter line oonatruct|on, as well as power and other "d utility installations, ohoU conform to the

B. The type, size, location and number of all known underground utilities are approximate when shown on the drawings. It aho|| be the
responsibility of the contractor to verify the existence and location of all underground utilities along the route of the work before
commencing new construction. The contractor ahoU be responsible for unknown underground utilities.
18. These drawings represent only the approximate location of utilities and are included only for the convenience of the contractor.
Contractor uhoU be responsible for locating all utilities, pipes and structures. Contact utility notification center of Colorado
(800)-922_1987 to locate underground foci/it/ea. Contact Town of Vail for additional |000tan (970) 479-2158. Contact Eagle River Water

construction activity. Contractor shall ensure that work preformed in the proximity to utilities oho|| be according to the requirements of
the requirements of these agencies. The contractor ohoH notify the owner's representative of any existing utilities which may interfere with
the proposed work prior to construction. The contractor obo|| repair all existing utilities to remain which are dornugod during construction
at no additional coot to the owner.
11' The contractor ahoU coordinate and cooperate with the Town of Voi|, and all utility oonnponioo involved, assuring that the work in
accomplished in o timely fashion and with o minimum disruption of oerVico. The contractor ehoU be responsible for contacting, in odvonoo
all parties affected by any disruption of any utility service as well as the utility companies.
12. A State Construction De*otering Wastewater Discharge Permit is required if de*otering is requ in order to fooU{toto construction or
if any water is discharged into o storm sewer, channel, irrigation ditch or any waters of the United States.
13' The contractor aho|| submit for approval and comply with all tornna and conditions of the Colorado Permit for Storm Water Discharge
(Contac Colorado Department of Health, Water Quality Control Division, at (303) 092-3590h, the Storm Water Management Plan, and the
Erosion Control Plan.
14. The Contractor ohoU provide and maintain approved erosion and sediment control ~boat noonogennont pnooUrea" (BMP) for the project
duration. Contractor shall inspect 8MP'o weekly and oMar every precipitation event. Contractor ohoU document inspection and make reports
ovol(ob|e upon request. Accumulated sediment and debris aho|| be removed from o bmp when the sediment level reaches one half the bmp
heights or, at any time that the bmp functionality is adversely impacted. All noonmaory nnointononno and repair ahoU be completed within
48 hours of identification, un|oao otherwise agreed upon.
15. The Town of Vail ahoU not be responsible for the maintenance of storm drainage facilities located on private proparty. Maintenance of
.1 on site drainage facilities ahoU be the responsibility of the private owners.
18. The Town of Yoi| ohoU not be responsible for any damage or injuries sustained as o result of the construction of this project as o
result of groundwater ooepogo' whether resulting from groundwater flooding structural damage or other donnogo.
17. The Contractor ahoU be responsible for insuring that no mud or debris ahoU be tracked onto the existing public street system. Mud
and debris must be removed within 24 hours by on appropriate mechanical method (i.e. machine broom oweop. light duty front-end loader,
etc.) or as approved by the Town of Vail construction inspector.
18. The Contractor ehoU notify the Town of Vail Construction Inspector (970-479-2198) 72 hours prior to the start of any construction.
If work in suspended for any pohod of time after initial start-up, the contractor ahoU notify the Town of Vail of naoaon for suspension and
estimated time of suspension. Contractor oho{| notify the Town of Vail 72 hours prior to restart of construction.
10. The Contractor nhoU notify the Town of YoD Environmental Health Inspector (070-479-2333) at least 2 working days prior to the start
of any earth disturbing activity, or construction on any and all public improvements.
20. The Owner ohoU be responsible for obtaining and submitting to the Town of Yni| Construction Inspector motoho| tests in 0000pdonoo
with the applicable standards and specifications for all work within the Public Right- of-Way. If the final soils/pavement design repor
does not correspond with the results of the original gooteohnivoi report, the Owner ehmU be responsible for o re-design of the subject
pavement section. All final soils deaign raporta ahoU be prepared by licensed Professional Engineer. The final report ohoU be
submitted to the Town of Vail Construction Inspector prior to placement of base and asphalt.
21. Prior to placement of H.B.P. or concrete within the public Right of Way o mechanical "proof roll" will be required. The entire uubgrode
and/or buoo rnot*hoi shall be rolled with o heavily loaded vehicle having minimum single ox|o weight of at least 18,000 (bm. Any
oubgrode/�000 aection exhibiting excessive pumping or deformation as determined by the construction inspector shall be re*orked, rap|000d
or modified to form o non-yielding surface. The Town of Yo|| Construction inspector ahoU be notified 24 hours prior to o "proof roll".
22. The Contractor nho|| furnish electronic and hard copy reproducible As-Built record drawings showing horizontal and vertical |000Uona
and elevations of constructed improvements including all uUUt(ee and drainage oppurtonc*o prior to ocooptonoo of the project.

32. Locate, protect, and maintain bench marks, monuments, control points and project engineering reference points. Reestablish
disturbed or destroyed items at Contractor's expense.

34` When on existing asphalt street must be cut, the street must be restored to o condition equal to or better than its origina
condition. Patching ohoU be done in accordance with the Town of Vail Street Repair Standards. The noonna of the asphalt patches ahoU
be infrared unless otherwise instructed by the Town of YoD Engineer.
35. Upon completion of nonotruotion, the site ahoU be cleaned and restored to o condition equal to, or better than, that which existed
