representative bulk samples of three suspect asbestos containing including drywalUdrywall jourt compound, flooring
leveling compound, and wall te�cture. The walk-through of the structure, collection of representative bulk samples,
and delivery of the bullc samples to an independent analytical laboratory were completed on Apri128, 2010 by a
D&D Building Inspector, certified and accr�ited by the Environmernal Protection Agency (EPA) and �e State of
Colorado.
UNDERSTANDING
D&D understands that a representative of Viele Construction was seeking a professional environmental consulting
company to conduct a walk-through of the referenced residential stiucture, collect and submit for asbestos content
analysis, representative bulk samples of the suspect asbestos containing materials that may be impacted by the
interior renovation activities.
SCOPE OF WORK
The representative bulk samples were collected and submitted for anaiysis of the following suspect materials:
• DrywaWdrywall joint compound
• Floor filler (leveling) compound
• Wall texture
The bulk samples were collected in the areas impacted by the renovation and this report of findings was prepared
based on the results.
ANALYTICAL PROCEDURES
The bullc samples collected of suspect asbestos containing materials were delivered to Aerobiology Laboratory
Associates, Inc. a National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAI') asbestos laboratory located in
Lalcewood, Colorado for standard turnaround time analysis. All bulk samples are archived for silc months unless
otherwise stipulated by the client.

According to the analytical laboratory report, the bullc samples were analyzed in accordance with EPA Method
600/R-93/116. Small portions of the sample were placed in Series: E High Dispersion Refractive Index Liquid on a
microscope slide. The prepared samples were observed at 100X (power) under polarized light using a McCrone
Dispersion Staining Objective. The characteristics of the fibers were compared to the l�own properties of asbestos
fibers for dispersion color, polarity, extinction and general morphology. Sample content (given by percentage) was
made by visual estimates by comparison of asbestos fibers to total materials.
RESULTS
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and
the State of Colorado Air Quality Control Commission considers a material as asbestos containing if the reported
amount of asbestos is greater than one percent.
RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUMMARY
According to the analytical report, the bulk samples were reported as negarive for asbestos content and therefore,
will not require speciai handling prior to commencing renovation or other disturbances.
If additional suspect asbestos cantaining materials are identified during periods of disturbances, all activities must
stop imtil Wese materials are sampled. Work shall not resume untii the results are reported and removal completed,
if required.
