Asbestos Testing & Abatement Requirements
Asbestos testing and abatement protects workers, homeowners, neighbors and emergency services responders from ex-
posure to harmful asbestos. The Town of Vail asbestos abatement program is in addition to the State of Colorado's regu-
lations. It is your responsibility to be in compliance with the State. Please contact the State directly for their requirements
at the contact info listed below.
When is asbestos testina required?
ANY building projects disturbing more than these threshold levels of building materials require asbestos testing:
One- and Two-Family Dwellings: 30 square feet
All Others: 160 square feet
Asbestos testing results must be provided with your application for a building permit.
Tests which identify POSITIVE results at more than 1% require abatement by a State-certified and Vail-registered abate-
ment contractor. An asbestos abatement permit must be approved, and the clearance letter must be submitted to the
Town of Vail before the building permit will be issued

As re'quested, structural steel special inspection was conducted at the above referenced project per
the IBC 2009 'tion - Chapter 1 i: Structural Tests and Special Inspection and the Town of Vail
requirements. azrived on site at 9:45 AM. I met with you on site to review areas ready for inspection.
�While on site received and reviewed a copy of an engineering clarification from KRM Consultants, Inc. in
Vail, CO: She�t SK-I dated 6-3-10. Please refer to ihe attached drawing for project documentation.
Vis '1 welding inspection was conducted at the Third Floor Framing Plaa level on the 3" X 3" X
3/16" Tube St�el column base plate and cap piate fillet welded connections as required on approved jobsite
drawings. Ins on was conducted east of grid line C& 24. Fillet welds were observed to be as detai�ed
and in complia n e with Pi'oJect specifica�ions.
Visua� welding inspection was conducteci at the Third Floor Framing Plan level on the tube
colamn to cha.�nel and angle bracing fillet vyelded connections as required on Sheet SK-1 referenced above.
Inspection was conduc�oed at grid line B— B.3 & 25. Fillet wetds wene observed to be as detailed and in
compliance wi�h project specifications.
V' welding inspecrion was conducted at the Roof Framing Plan level on the angle bracing to
beam flange, j ist seat to beam flange, ridge beam stiflener plate, and beam web to knife plate fillet welded
connections as ferenced on She�t SZ: Details 1, 2, 3, 4, �t 5 on approved jobsite drawings. Inspection was
conducted at 'd line B3 — East of C line 8c 23 - 25. Fillet welds were observed to be as detailed and in
compliance wi�h Project specifications.
This � clndes a11 required sirucdual steel special inspection per Chapter 17 and project
specifications r the Unit A-10 Dormer Addition in Vail, Colorado. AIl documented aress of inspection
are in comp ' ce with pmject specifications.
