Dear Kyle:
As requested, Monroe & Newell Engineers, Inc. has reviewed your plan dated September
1, 2009 for the project. The purpose of our review is to provide our opinion of the
structural impact of the project to the existing building.
The existing building is a precast concrete structure using precast double tees, precast
beams and columns, and precast load bearing/shear walls.
Based on our review of the existing structural drawings, it is our opinion that the existing
framing is capable of supporting the additional dead load of a palletized "wood" deck.
Occupancy live load requirements are less than the design snow load and are acceptable.
The concentrated load from the center support column of the proposed circular stair
needs to be distributed to the supporting double tee(s) below. A base plate of /4 "xl' -0"
wide x4' -0" long centered below the column is required with the 4' -0" direction
perpendicular to the tee legs below.

Re: Artinian Electrical Evaluation
Kyle,
After my visit at the Artinian residence yesterday, it is my opinion that it will be achievable to
add the small electrical load per your electrical plans.
First, we will be gaining 1- 20amp 120volt circuit due to eliminating the one rooftop ventilation
unit. As far as the additional electrical per your plans, it is achievable by adding the new load of
300 watts (6- 12volt, 50 watt deck lights) onto an existing electrical circuit in the rooftop
electrical panel. Essentially, we will not be adding any additional load to the existing panel, only
extending existing circuitry.
In the end we will actually be potentially gaining overall electrical service load if you account for
the deletion of the rooftop ventilation (120volt, 20amp motor load) and only adding 300 watts,
12volts (seasonal lighting) of low voltage lighting.
