MANUFACTURERConklin Company Inc.551 Valley Park DriveShakopee, Minnesota 55379(800) 888-8838FAX (952) 496-42853. PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONBasic Use – PUMA is an advanced technology premium Poly-Urethane Modified Acrylic roof coating specially designed for new spray-in-place polyurethane foam (SPF).PUMA combines the best performance of both urethane and acrylic polymers to create a seamless membrane. This single coat system offers excellent adhesion to spray-in-place polyurethane foam and aged Conklin acrylic coatings, along with higher tensile strength, elongation, toughness and dirt pickup resistance than could be expected from any all-acrylic system. Excellent adhesion to other acrylics for recoat/restore scenarios. PUMA patent-pending technology is tougher and more durable than conventional acrylic roof coatings and requires only one coat. Tensile strength, elongation, dirt pick-up and erosion resistance and mil degradation are all significantly improved.Composition and MaterialsColor: WhiteCoverage Rate: Coverage rates will vary depending on surface condition. Lower temperature, lower wind speed, higher humidity or higher wet film thickness will increase the dry time in excess of the reported average.**Refer to Underwriters Laboratories Roofing Materials and Systems directory for specific fire resistant assemblies or contact Conklin Company Building Products Division.5. APPLICATION:Surface Preparation:The substrate must be structurally sound, solid, clean and dry. On certain decks and surfaces, proper installation of drains, vapor retarders, roofing vents, expansion joints, flashings, and positive slope to drain will be required. The application surface must be finished, smooth and free of grease, wax, dirt, contaminants, moisture and other matter that would interfere with adhesion. It must also be free of chips, loose roofing or other foreign matter.PUMA shall not be applied to SPF foam surfaces with a texture of “verge popcorn” “popcorn” or “tree bark”.CONKLIN COMPANY INC. 9 Finishes and special coatingsManufacturer’s SpecificationsPUMA™ Mixing and Thinning: PUMA is approved for use over new, spray-in-place polyurethane foam and over aged Conklin acrylic roofing systems. Do not apply at temperatures below 40º F, and during inclement weather, if rain is imminent or when freezing may occur before the product is fully cured. Apply PUMA at a rate of 1.9 gallons per square. Additional information on applications can be obtained through Conklin product services at (800) 888-8838.Coverage rate: The recommended application rate for PUMA is 1.9 gallons per square (100 ft2). This rate includes 15 percent for application loss and 10 percent for surface texture. This is not an absolute rate, but a starting point to assist in the bidding of a job. Under very irregular roofing substrate conditions, more product may be required. Most importantly, PUMA must be applied in a continuous, unbroken film of a dry thickness of no less than 13.5 mils over the entire roof.If roofing granuales are to be used, they MUST be embedded using a second application of PUMA at a rate of one gal/square. Quartz granuales at 50 lbs/square.6. DISPOSALDispose of product in accordance with local, state and federal regulations governing hazardous waste.7. SAFETYCAUTION: HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED.
