An opportunity to run a small grab-n-go café in the Vail Transportation Center
The Town of Vail is offering a low-rent space in the Vail Transportation Center (VTC) to a locally and
independently owned business to provide pre-made food items, coffee and other non-alcoholic drinks
for sale in the upper level of the center.
The Town will invest in the space by providing an allowance to be used for things such as minimal kitchen
equipment (sink, refrigeration, microwave, counters/cabinets) and tables/chairs for a seating area. An
offsite kitchen licensed/inspected by Eagle County is required for food preparation as there will be no
venting or cooktop equipment. The intent of this space is to provide prepared, individually wrapped food
items such as snacks, sandwiches, and pastries to transit riders and visitors that come through the
transportation center.
ELIGIBILITY:
The business must be locally owned and operated from Eagle County, CO and the owner over 18 years of
age. The business must have access to an offsite kitchen facility licensed by Eagle County.
If selected, the business will need to go through the food service process with Eagle County to get
licensed; State of Colorado and Town of Vail business license will be required as well.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• A brief letter of interest with your current Eagle County address, proposed offerings, current
situation, previous experience, CV if available and contact information.
• Business plan, including equipment and space needs; product offerings and proposed pricing,
concept idea, hours of operation and staffing levels.
• Be open for operations by early to mid-December

Tours of the space (Tours will only occur with an RSVP to khalloran@vail.gov)
August 29 11am – 12pm
September 2 9am – 10am
September 5 1pm – 2pm
Application deadline: September 20
Notification of interview by end of day September 23
Interviews with Town staff: Thursday, September 25

Below are some pictures of the space (empty, and showing a sample of activation. The food
service space is approximately 150 square feet; located in the area behind the service window.
There is an exterior door to the space, and another service window facing the exterior of the
building. Just outside the service window is a common space that will be furnished with some
tables/chairs, but also vending machines. The stairs (in the photo) lead down to La Cantina and
the lower level of the transportatoin center (bathrooms, lockers, Vail Transit offices).
