Solaris Breezeway
Hi Steve and Brian,
I'm writing in response to the questions raised at our Monday Solaris meeting. The question was...does the passageway currently shown on the Solaris plan comply with the code requirement
for exit discharge.
I dug further into the plans and found no reason why the breezeway (passageway) would not comply with the definition of exit discharge. To be sure I spoke with John Plano regarding
the issue. He also agreed that the space could be exit discharge. He mention there are still fire ratings required on the walls of the exit discharge area due to occupancy separation.
According to John at one point he pushed the question back to the design team at which time they defined the space as exit passageway.
I have consulted with Martin and Mike on my finding and both have agreed with the interpretation.
John also said there is a door adjacent to the North/South passageway that exits from the theater into the breezeway. Pulling from memory John thought the occupant load dropping in
there was around 200. I don't have a copy of this plan, so I'm unable to verify at this time. If there is a door please make sure it is shown on this re-submitted set of plans as well.
I will be confirming this with Chris Gunion before completing the final review.
To resolve this outstanding issue please modify the plans accordingly to comply and resubmit all affected sheets. This re-submittal needs to be approved and stamped by the fire protection
engineer as part of the performance based design for this building. There are other outstanding comments from the plan review comment letter that must also be addressed as part of this
re-submittal. Please respond to all comments as part of this one submittal.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks
