I think having them order one to test out is a good idea. Cooter, Jim and Craig, This device is intended for the Solaris. We are trying to avoid PRV's in the standpipe. Once we get one of these devices, I would like for you to test it out before we agree to this approach. Attached is a Word document I put together from cut and pasted sections of the Red Head Brass website for their inline pressure gauge used for standpipe hose connections. Basically, this device turns the standpipe connection into an outlet that fireifighters can use to set their own pressures for their hose stream operations on the building floor. This eliminates the guess work of setting pressures by fire engineers at their pump panels and allows interior crews to control their pressure by gating down/up their outlet control valve, without the hassles.dangers of PRV's. We (at Westminster Fire Dept.) have found these devices be very versatile and to be the most resistant to breakage by the gorilla fireifghters. If this device looks good, maybe we could order one to play with to decide if it is the actual device VFES wants to use and then formalize a MOU document later. The attached word document has the website, distributor contact info and device info pasted on it. My BCER email works via my cell phone in a town about 30 miles away, but not at the inlaws house. You can email me at my BCER email & brideb@sasktel.net until Friday, July 18th if you have any questions (with a cc copy sent to dleiker@bcer.com ). Resist sending any big documents so I don't choke their email system. Thanks. We will be out fishing for a few days at a time, so I may not respond back right away.
