Roof of Solaris
I don't see any UL or other listing on the roof assembly details attached, so it's hard to say if those assemblies are in accordance with their fire resistive listing. I have typically
seen UL listings require gyp. board on top of the steel deck when there is foam plastic above.
IBC section 603 item 4 only lists roof coverings as an allowable combustible in type I and II construction, other than that non-combustible construction is required unless specifically
listed in section 603. I guess it comes down to what is considered part of the roof covering. I have always required FRT wood if it is within the assembly. I don't see a code section
that would say you can use regular wood.
Town of Vail ordinance requires all roof be class A. Is the proposed metal and EPMD roof covering system still class A if there is plywood underneath? It's not specified in the details.

Chris,
What do you think of this? The original plan indicates FRT plywood. Since the review of the plans I have found some ICC research that allows non-FRT plywood on the roof as long as the
structural elements are non com. and the plywood has been tested with the shingles for classification of the roof.
I believe in Vail the call has been FRT on roofs Type I and II construction. See the attachment, I included, about wood on roofs from the ICC code interpretations. I had an e-mail from
Glenn Morgan in Breck with even more substantiating information that I cannot seem to find now. I do not want to approve something and have it denied after it is up.

John,
Please see attached revised roof type R1 and R2. Is this assembly acceptable for a Class A roof?
VersaSheild, by Elk is used on top of the underlayment as a fire retarder. Fire resistive plywood is a problem with moisture and deteriorates in a few years. It has been refused as an
option by our waterproofing consultant. This has been an approved assembly used in Aspen. That's how we found it.
Please let us know your thoughts.
Thank you.
