The original plan indicates FRT plywood. Since the review of the plans I have found some ICC research that allows non-FRT plywood on the roof as long as the structural elements are non com. and the plywood has been tested with the shingles for classification of the roof. I believe in Vail the call has been FRT on roofs Type I and II construction. See the attachment, I included, about wood on roofs from the ICC code interpretations. I had an e-mail from Glenn Morgan in Breck with even more substantiating information that I cannot seem to find now. I do not want to approve something and have it denied after it is up. Is this assembly acceptable for a Class A roof? VersaSheild, by Elk is used on top of the underlayment as a fire retarder. Fire resistive plywood is a problem with moisture and deteriorates in a few years. It has been refused as an option by our waterproofing consultant. This has been an approved assembly used in Aspen.
