The safety plan states they will have a fire watch for 1 1/2 hours after shut down. The cover letter say one hour. Maybe Douglas should re-read their own safety plan. It also requires a face shield. I do not recall ever seeing a roofer with a face shield. I think they need to send a copy of the hydrotech as well. The cover letter does not state the duration of the job either. Days or hours or weeks? The process is not stated. Is this a mop down, torch down or what? Douglas is the same firm that started three fires at the Sonnenalp. Maybe they need a special permit? >>> "Roger Eastman" <Roger.Eastman@weitz.com> 07/29/2009 1:38 PM >>> Mike, I am sending you this in response to your conversation with Frank Makris regarding the safe handling of the hot kettle used for roofing flat roof areas on the Solaris project. Douglass Roofing has provided a verbal description, MSDS, and a job safety analysis for the safety of the crews and the precautions for fire prevention. I would be happy to discuss and address your concerns and perhaps even walk the staging area with you. We all want a safe and efficient application of the material. Thanks.
