Solaris Phase II—Fire Protection System Commissioning
Gentleman:
BCER Engineering has performed and witnessed the inspections of the fire alarm system and sprinkler
system for the areas included in the Phase I Occupancy at Solaris. These areas are shown as the highlighted
areas on the attached drawings. This letter serves as the documentation of that testing and provides an
overview of the inspection procedures and findings.
Automatic Sprinkler Svstem
Inspections of the sprinkler system for Phase II areas were completed on Apri19, 2010.These inspections
included a visual inspection of the sprinklers in their final installed condition and testing of the valves and
flow switches associated with Phase II, concurrent with the fire alarm system testing.No deficiencies were
found during our testing.
Fire Alarm Svstem
The fire alarm system was inspected and operational tests were performed for the devices within the Phase II
area, as well as the temporary devices directly above the Phase II area, on April 9,2010.During the testing
of the system it was noted that the visual notification appliances within Unit 402 were not operational.
Additionally,heat detectors within Unit 414 had not yet been replaced with the final smoke detection devices
at the time of our test.
JCI corrected the issues with the visual notification appliances within Unit 402 and replaced the heat
detectors in Unit 414 with smoke detectors.JCI performed a test of these devices on April 14,2010.A record
of this testing is included with this letter. BCER will perform testing of this equipment during the next
scheduled test on April 19, 2010.
