RE: Vail Golf Course #7 retaining wall construction project
The Vail Recreation District (VRD), in conjunction with the Town of Vail (TOV) is currently working on plans to
replace the existing retaining walls located on the # 7 Tee Box on the Vail Golf Course.
Background:
This project is a result of an engineering study conducted by Bourne Engineering firm from Westminster CO. This
study was conducted at the request for the TOV to evaluate the Property conditions and provide and analysis for
physical needs for the assets owned by the TOV and operated by the VRD. As a result of this study there were
several areas with the District that were identified as "life safety" issues. The retaining walls on the 37 tee
complex were specifically included in this "life safety" assessment.
TOV then contracted Loris and Associates Inc. of Lafayette CO to draft conceptual plans for the #7 tee box retaining
wall including options and pricing. The TOV and VRD agreed on a course of action and the VRD then contracted
Loris to provide final design plans and engineering specifications. The VRD has also been working with other
consultants to minimize the impact this project will have on surrounding area.
Purpose:
The purpose of this project is to replace the retaining walls identified as "life safety" issues located at the #7 tee
box on the Vail Golf Course.
Details:
This project will involve excavating and removing the existing retaining walls and grading the tee box. We will be
moving several utilizes. We will then install new walls, cart path and fencing. It is our goal to commence work on
this project in the fall of 2010 with a 6 to 8 week construction period.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
.--
