The Town of Vail asbestos abatement program is in addition to the State of Colorado's regu- lations. It is your responsibility to be in compliance with the State. Please contact the State directly for their requirements at the contact info listed below. When is asbestos testing required? ANY building projects disturbing more than these threshold levels of building materials require asbestos testing: One- and Two-Family Dwellings: 32 square feet All Others (commercial spaces, hotel rooms, etc): 160 square feet Definition of a single-family dwelling: any dwelling unit that is used primarily for a single family, including multi-family/condominium units,and fractional fee units. Asbestos testing results must be provided with your application for a building permit. Tests which identify POSITIVE results at more than 1% require abatement by a State-certified and Vail-registered abate- ment contractor. Peter man Asbestos Testing, Project Design_ and Consulting INTRODUCTION: On June 29th.2007 an inspectionisurvey was conducted and 5 bulk samples were collected from: Eagle Point 1500 Matterhorn Circle Units 209, 202, 203,307, and 216 Vail,CO, 81657 The purpose of the inspectionAurvey was to locate and sample suspected Asbestos containing materials that might be present in the above units that are planned for renovation. The inspection was made, and the samples were collected by John R. Peterman, an A.H.E.R.A. and State of Colorado Certified Asbestos inspector. Great care was taken during the inspection and sampling to be as accurate as possible. It should be noted that minimal damage was done to the existing building structures during the inspection so there is no documentation for unseen conditions or stored items. All samples were analyacd by DCM Science Lab in Wheatridge, CO. This laboratory is deemed "Proficient"in the E.P.A.Quality Assurance (QA) program for the determination of asbestos in bulk materials,and is accredited by the American Hygiene Association (AMA), i A random sampling scheme was used to sample the suspect materials thaat were discovered. CO. 8t657 i i UNIT DESCRIPTION: The Eagle Point is a multi-unit condo complex that is planned for selective renovation in several units. The units to be renovated are homogeneous in construction. Random units were selected from the designated units for testing purposes, and the kitchens and bathroom areas are to be renovated. The interior walls are covered in sheetrock with a heavy texture_ The ceilings in the renovation areas are covered in sheetrock, like the walls, and spray-on acoustic texture. The acoustic ceiling texture will not be disturbed during the renovation, and this was not tested. The floors are covered in carpet,and ceramic tiles. - CONCLUSIONS &RECOMMENDATIONS: Laboratory analysis,of the composite sheetrock samples,indicates that Asbestos was detected in three out of five of the bulk samples taken. Howtvcr, the Asbestos content, of the positive samples, is less than the Regulatory Limit(Greater than 1% Asbestos)_ The Asbestos content was verified by the required Point Count Analysis.
