Dear Bill:
As a follow-up to our pre-application meeting with you on August 19, I have been asked to
obtain approval from the Town of Vail's Design Review Board for a deck remodel project
located at Meadow Creek Condominiums. More specifically, my clients are Dr. Daniel L. Brod
and Valerie Garner, who recently closed on the purchase of Unit 1-1, and they are seeking to
obtain approval for installation of a hot tub at the existing elevated wood deck of their unit.
Although the option of adding a new exterior stairway leading from the mid-level deck down to
finish grade was part of our initial discussions about this deck remodel, my clients have decided
not to build a new exterior stairway.
NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION:
The owners of Meadow Creek Condominiums, Unit J-1 respectfully request approval for the
installation of a hot tub at the existing elevated wood deck. The anticipated scope of work
includes structural reinforcement of existing deck joists and provision of electrical supply
connections per outdoor spa manufacturer's requirements. This requested scope of work has
recently been granted approval by the Meadow Creek Condominiums HOA—please refer to the
"Joint Property Owner Written Approval Letter" contained within the enclosed DRB submittal
package stipulating this necessary HOA approval.

DRB SUBMITTAL PACKAGE:
We have enclosed the following items for your review and approval of our clients' request:
1. "Application for Design Review—Minor Exterior Application" Form, including:
• General Information/Owner Signature
� Joint Property Owner Written Letter of Approval from Meadow Creek HOA
• Proposed Materials Form (mostly not applicable for this project)
• Proposed Landscape Form (not applicable for this project)
2. Property Record Card from Eagle County
• Provides verification of ownership of subject property and parcel number.
3. Drawings &Supplemental Information, including the following:
• Aerial Site Photo
• Final Plat Site Plan
• 2nd Floor Plan of Unit J-1 (taken from Final Plat)
• Building Section of Unit J-1 (taken from Final Plat)
• Deck Layout Plan showing proposed outdoor spa location
4. Specifications of Clearwater Outdoor Spa
5. Application Fee of$20
My clients are anxious to move forward with the necessary structural improvements to make
installation of a hot tub on their deck a reality prior to the upcoming ski season. As a result,
they would kindly appreciate the Town of Vail Design Review Board's consideration and timely
approval of their request to move forward with this project.
