Box 3419 Vail, Colorado 81658 ATTN: Mr. Howard Brid2land RE: Suinage Renovation Northwoods: Unit 13 600 Vail Valley Drive Vail, Colorado 81657 Dear Mr. Bridgland, October 14, 2010 Permit #B10 -0268 Project 4PRJ10 -0188 As requested, structural steel special inspection was conducted at the above referenced project per the IBC 2009 Edition - Chapter 17: Structural Tests and Special Inspection and the Town of Vail requirements. I arrived on site at 1:30 PM. I met with you on site to review project requirements and specifications. The steel fabricator and erector for this project is Trinity Welding, Inc. in Leadville, Colorado. The welder qualification test reports for the welder on site was reviewed and observed to be acceptable with project specifications. Copies of test reports are on file with Mr. Jeremy Leibseit with Trinity Welding, Inc. While on site I received and reviewed a copy of a revised engineering drawing from the project structural engineer Ms. Kimberly R. McGhee, P.E. with KRM Consultants, Inc. in Vail, CO dated 10- 14 -10. Please refer to the attached drawing for project documentation. Visual welding inspection was conducted at the Fourth Floor Framing Plan and Roof Framing Plan levels on the column to beam, beam stiffener plate, balcony angle bracing, tube to beam, column shear plate to beam, and angle to beam fillet welded connections as required on Sheet S 1: Details 1, 2, 3, and also Sheet S2: Details 1, 2, and 3 on approved stamped engineering drawings provide by KRM Consultants, Inc. in Vail, CO: Project # 1005 -14 dated 8 -9 -10 and above submitted engineering drawing. Inspection was conducted at grid line D — H & 23 — 24.3 on both levels referenced. All fillet welded connections referenced were observed to be as detailed and in compliance with project specifications and revised engineering drawings. Visual welding inspection was conducted at the Fourth Floor Framing Plan level on the newly installed 26 Gauge metal decking puddle welds and side lap attachments as required on approved stamped engineering drawings. Puddle welds and side lap attachments were observed to be as demur compliance with project specifications.
