RE: Vail Golf Course Lightning Shelters
The Vail Recreation District (VRD) is currently reviewing our plans for two recently DRB approved lighting shelters.
Background:
Our approved plans include interior wall elements originally designed to help provide shelter from rain and wind.
As we have been involved with both the DRB and PEC process we have had several comments regarding these
walls and the fact that the may attract individuals participating in "unauthorized" activities. It was also brought to
our attention that they would limit the ability of our guests to interact with one another and would be a less social
atmosphere. After considering these ideas we would like to propose to remove the interior wall elements.
Purpose:
The purpose of this project is to provide safe shelters for guests however not create any opportunity for
mischievous behavior.
Details:
We would remove the interior wall elements and add 4 (four) columns to the exterior corners as well as 1 (one)
center post, all serving as structural elements to support the roof. The columns and post would all be rough saw
timber to match the existing wood elements on the proposed structure and stained to match.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
"f r
