Dear Mr. Haeberle,
The project mechanical installations were reviewed on April 26, 2011 by Ron Keenan. The following are
comments from the review:
• The Mechanical Installations are in compliance with the mechanical design.
• Grease exhaust ducts are provided with access doors that will allow for cleaning the ducts.
Location of clean out are sufficient for cleaning. The access doors and duct enclosures are in
compliance with building code requirements, to the extent available for review.
• Installation of hood exhaust fans was reviewed. Access for maintenance and servicing is
provided.
• Termination of hibachi exhaust ducts through tower sidewalls was reviewed. The ducts extend
away from the tower walls to minimize grease accumulation on the walls. The termination
complies with requirements of IMC section 506.3.12.2.
• Operation of air distribution system was observed for excess draft. The air distribution was not
objectionable.
• The heating water boiler was not operational at the time of review. Piping modifications were
being made for proper operation. The combustion air and gas vent installed were in compliance
with the manufacturer listings.
• The submitted air balance report has been reviewed and is accepted with the following
comments:
Hibachi 1 (EF -2) is 8.5% below design. Smoke tests were reported to have good capture
exhaust flow.
Hibachi 3 (EF -4) is 7.4% below design. Smoke tests were reported to have good capture
exhaust flow.
Hibachi 5 (EF -6) is 7.3% below design. Smoke tests were reported to have good capture
exhaust flow.
Hibachi 3 (EF -4) is 7.4% above design. The fan can be adjusted to reduce air noise, if it
is objectionable.
Installations are acceptable with our office. Installations concealed in building construction were not
observed.
