(FEI) conducted a limited asbestos inspection of suspect asbestos materials that may be impacted by planned renovations at the residence located at 710 West Lionshead Circle, Unit 102, in Vail, Colorada The limited inspection was conducted on October 8, 2010. Mr. Lyle Ardourel, an asbestos inspector certified by the Colorado Department of Public Health& Environment, conducted the limited asbestos inspection. Aerobiology Laboratory, an independent laboratory accredited by the National Voluntary Accreditation Program (NVLAP) and the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) analyzed the samples utilizing Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM). A limited bulk sampling of suspect drywall and joint compound was conducted to identify any Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) that has been impacted by a water intrusion. An ACM is defined by the EPA as a material with an asbestos content of greater than one percent (1%) by volume. Only the areas impacted by the intrusion were inspected for ACM. FEI did not inspect outside of the proposed scope of work. No materials sampled for this project were found to contain asbestos. Foothills Environmental,Inc. 1320 Simms Street,Suite 102,Golden,CO 80401 (303)232-2660 2 CONCLUSIONS and RECOMMENDATIONS: Removal, in accordance with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's (CDPHE) Regulation No. 8, is required of materials with an asbestos content of greater than one percent (1%) by volume that are friable or will be made friable during renovation or demolition activities. Friable means that the material, when dry may be crumbled, pulverized, or reduced to powder by hand pressure. No materials sampled for this project were found to contain asbestos. LIMITATIONS This document is not intended to be used as a bid document for the removal, repair, encapsulation, enclosure, or Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of asbestos containing materials. Foothills Environmental, Inc. can prepare asbestos abatement specifications, scope of work, project design, and bid documents for this project at the client's request. This document describes the locations and conditions of ACM identified in the facility during the inspection. This report is limited to the scope of work identified in this report and should not be construed to represent anything outside the scope of work.
