Town Code sections can be found at www.vailgov.com under Vail Information — Town Code Online. All projects re-
quiring design review must receive approval prior to submitting a building permit application. An application for Design
Review cannot be accepted until all required information is received by the Community Development Department, as
outlined in the submittal requirements. The project may also need to be reviewed by the Town Council and /or the Plan-
ning and Environmental Commission. Design review approval expires one year from the date of approval, unless a
building permit is issued and construction commences.

Dear Mr. Campbell,
We live in the west half of the duplex listed as 4862 Meadow Lane. Debbie and Robin Hawley
are the east half of this unit. We give full approval to the outdoor patio/ garden project that
Debbie is working on to the east side of their unit. The work is not interfering in any way with
our house or lifestyle. (it is very quiet compared to the rest of the construction going on around
us!) We look forward to the completed project and believe it will be a nice upgrade and
pleasant addition to our little area.

Mr. Campbell,
My husband, Robin, will be in Vail this week Sept 2 Wed. He would like to meet you out at the property, if possible. Our neighbor is
difficult to contact. We will probably have to remove improvements but would like to meet with you first to know how to proceed, we
have never worked with the Townof Vail and need to make sure the this situation going in the right direction before he leaves Vail on the
10th. We will not be in Vail again until the holidays.
In the mean time I will try to contact our neighbor on lot 14.

Ms. Hawley,
I just returned from a site visit to your home where I met Shane on site. Using
the ILC you provided I was able to determine how far the property line is from
the side of your home. At the farthest point, the property line is
approximately 20 feet from the corner of your home.
The improvements as constructed appear to be further than 20 feet from the side
of the house. I believe the improvements that have been constructed are not on
your property, but on the neighboring property (Lot 14). Shane concurred that I
was reading the provided site plan correctly.
Furthermore the grass area to the left of your garage where the bench and
hammock are hung appear to be off your property as well.
At this juncture you have the option of removing the improvements and returning
them to a state in which they previously existed or having your neighboring
property owner sign the application allowing the improvement on their property.
Please let me know which way you wish to proceed.

DO you happen to have an Improvement Location Certificate (ILC) for your
property or a survey? You would have gotten an ILC when you closed on your
property. I have looked through our files and can find neither a site plan or
plat for this property which will aid me in determining that the improvements
you would like indeed are on your property. Any help you can provide would be
great.
