Merck Construction Inc. will provide labor and material for the following:
A. Tear -off existing roof, consisting of:
Date:6 /08/ 10
• Tear -off all existing asphalt shingles.
• Prep roof for new dry in materials. This includes pulling all nails and staples from plywood. Most companies only bend
over nails and staples, which can puncture new dry in material. This process is more time consuming. MCI feels this is
the best way to ensure proper installation.
• Dispose of all debris in container and a porto -let system provided by Merck Construction Inc.
B. Install new roof, consisting of:
• All 2" X 2" Dark Brown Drip edge installed around perimeter of roof and Grace Ice and Watershield to cover entire
roof area to insure proper seal against snow & ice.
• All GAF/ELK Timberline 40 -yr. Dimensional Asphalt shingles, color to be determined. `4
• All starters and ridge caps to match.
• All existing vents will be replaced with Owens Corning trimline ridge vent system. This will tie both houses together
properly.
• All Dark Brown galvanized flashing supplied.
• All protruding pipe -flanges will be replaced.
• All clean-up included.

This is Jenn Bruno. My husband and I own a half duplex at 1990 Chamonix Lane.
Our roof on our home will not survive the winter. It is so dire one roofer has offered to put a tarp on our roof so we can
survive the winter. We have been told by 2 roofers that we need a new roof immediately. Because we live in a duplex, we
were just informed by Warren in the permit department that we cannot get a new roof unless our neighbors also get one -
our duplex neighbors cannot afford to do a new roof. Because of this we were told by the Town of Vail that we can only
repair a roof that is basically in its final days. What a waste of materials and money to fix something that by all accounts
we will certainly have to replace once our duplex neighbors (we are at their mercy) have the money to do.
Please help me understand why the Town prevents us from saving our home from eminent destruction. We have spots
on our roof that are completely unprotected - down to wood only. I find it hard to believe that the codes were made to help
destroy personal property.
I am asking for your help - we have a small window available before the snow begins to fall. We have secured a loan to
replace our roof. Again, I do not understand why the Town of Vail would prevent us from improving our home and
obviously preventing damage in the next few months.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I understand you are all busy with other more important items, but I am
incredibly worried that my house will open up to more leaks. Currently I have one in my closet. As an owner of a clothing
store you can imagaine how distressing that is.
All the best!
Jenn Bruno
