This letter summarizes the materials testing GROUND Engineering Consu{tants, Inc.
(GROUND) performed during the construction of the weather shelter located near the
Vail Golf Club's Hole #17. The materials testing and special inspection services were
performed at times scheduled by the Owner, Contractor and/or Subcontractors between
November 3, 2010 and January 3, 2011.
On November 3, 2010 a GROUND representative visited the project site to observe the
footing subgrade. HP Geotech'S SUbsOil Study St�bsoil Stt�dy for Fotntdatio�r Design, Tivo
Proposed Ligirte�ti�rg Sfielters, 3"� & 17`'' Holes, job #110-164A dated 7/29/2010 was
provided for reference.
On November 11, 2010 a certified welding inspector (CWI) visited the project site to
observe the field welded and boited connections for the weather shelter. These
observations were completed at times scheduled by the Contractor or Subcontractor.
Based on the test resu{ts to date, field observations, RFI's received and other project
documentation received from the design team, it is our opinion that the materials tested
and/or observed for the footing subgrades and structural steel were in general
accordance with project plans, specifications, and/or applicable RFI's.
The observations and materiats testing as indicated above were performed periodically
to provide data to the Owner, Contractor and Subcontractors to assist them in
evaluating the general compliance of the tested materials and/or work with the contract
documents at the times of our observation and testing. We did not supervise, direct or
have any contral ove� any of the Contractor's or Subcontractor's work. We were not
responsible for the Contractor's or Subcontractor's scheduling of our services, means,
methods, procedures, techniques, or sequences of construction, nor responsible for

The structural general notes on sheet S2.0 specify 3000 psi strength at 28 days concrete mix design for
foundations and 4500 psi mix design for exterior slabs-on-grade.
For the foundation piers a mix design with a minimum design strength of 2500 psi is structurally
acceptabie. The slab-on-grade mix has to be per specifications (4500 psi — etc.)
