NWCCOG CAST Regional Statistical Analysis Letter_2.2.26 (1) February 9, 2026 Dear Mayors, Commissioners, Managers, other Elected Officials and Community Leaders The Northwest Colorado Council of Governments (NWCCOG), in partnership with the Colorado Association of Ski Towns (CAST), has launched an initiative to better understand how municipal and county leaders are navigating today’s unprecedented pace of change. This effort, known as the Regional Statistical Analysis Project, is funded through an administrative grant from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) and member dues from both organizations. To Participate Click Here: https://www.CommunityLeadersSurvey.org As we look ahead, local governments are confronting a perfect storm of challenges: shifting in federal programs and regulations, economic volatility, AI-driven disruption, and widening funding gaps at state and local levels. This project seeks to document how communities are responding to these pressures today and how they prepare for what lies ahead. The goal is to identify key adaptations and promising strategies that can be shared regionally to support collective learning and impact. To do this, NWCCOG has engaged the Insights Collective, a trusted consulting team, to conduct interviews with mayors representing a broad cross-section of West Slope communities. You, or a member of your staff, may have already participated in an interview. We are now expanding this work through a short online survey designed to complement the interview findings. We invite you to participate by completing the brief survey at the link below. Please also consider forwarding this invitation and survey link to other community leaders who may have valuable perspectives to share. We are particularly interested in hearing from: • Elected and appointed officials • Volunteer board and commission members • Business and nonprofit leaders • Local government staff By sharing this invitation, you can help ensure that the survey reflects a broad and diverse cross-section of voices from across your community. Please feel free to forward this communication as-is or add a brief personal note encouraging participation. This project continues NWCCOG’s and CAST’s legacy of producing timely, actionable research, such as the Mountain Migration Report and the 2023 Workforce Housing Report, which have helped shape regional strategies on housing and workforce development. Thanks in advance for responding to the survey yourself AND for sharing it with your fellow community leaders. This is a critical inflection point, and your leadership can help ensure that regional perspectives inform the next generation of policy and practices.
