We observed the CMU placed for the walls surrounding and in shear wall #9 up to 11' 4". The walls were observed for mortar thickness, placement of block, reinforcing steel size, spacing, clearances, cleanliness of cells, dur o wall, bond beams, and the overall condition of the wall. Several cells needed to be cleaned before grout placement and some corner bars for the bond beams were also missing. Sergio with Vogelman West was notified and immediately corrected these items. The CMU walls appeared to be constructed in general accordance with the project plans and specifications. Grant with PCL was notified of our observations. We observed the reinforcing steel placed for sizing, spacing, clearances, as well as mortar thicknesses, cell cleanliness, block placement, dur o wall, bond beams, and the overall condition of the wall. A few vertical bars were observed to be missing in the corners and at the intersection of the walls. Sergio with Vogelman West was notified and immediately corrected the issue. We also observed the wall on the Upper Garage, Gridlines 65.5, from I to E, 2' to 4'. These walls appeared to be in general accordance with the project plans and specifications. These holes were observed to be between 3 '/2" to 4" deep. The manufacturer recommends a minimum depth of 6 3/4" for #6 bar. These holes will be re-observed at a later date.
