While on-site, we observed reinforcing steel for Level 4, Pour 2, and shear walls 1 & 2 on the Terrace Level. We observed the reinforcing steel for sizing, spacing tolerances, lap, and clearances from the forms. Several trim bars, back up bars, and mat bars were observed to be missing on Level 4, Pour 2. J.D. Steel was notified and immediately corrected the problems. Crossties, stir ups, corner bars, and vertical bars were observed to be missing in the west wall of Sheer Wall 1, and the north, south, and west walls of Sheer Wall 2. Arturo with J.D. Steel was notified and will correct the issues. We also observed the post tension tendon placement for Level 4, Pour 2. We observed the tendons for spacing, profile height, back up bars, bursting steel, and the overall general condition of the tendons. A few live heads were observed to be not complete, where plans specified fully encapsulated heads. Some of the back up bars and chairs were also observed to be missing as well. Manny with J.D. Steel was notified and corrected the problems. The post tension tendons and reinforcing steel for L4P2 appeared to generally conform with the project plans and specifications. Andy with PCL was notified of today's observations. We arrived on-site at 7:45 am to begin Post Tension Tendon stressing as requested. We observed the reinforcing steel for the specified bar sizing, spacing, tolerances, lap, and clearances from the forms. Several bars were observed to be missing in the beams, bottom mat, top mat, and the columns in beams for level 1, pour 8. Pedro and Manny with J.D. Steel were notified and began correcting these items. We also observed the Post Tension Tendons placed for level 1, pour 8. The tendons were observed for quantity of tendons, spacing tolerances, profile height, back up bars, bursting steel, and the overall condition of the tendons. There were several tendons observed to be missing in two beams and in the south end of the pour. Pedro and Manny with J.D. Steel were notified and began correcting the issues. Level 1, pour 8 will be re-observed in the morning before the concrete placement. Andy with PCL was notified of today's observations. Post Tension stressing was also observed for level 1, pour 1. The following discrepancies were observed in regards to the PT: • Missing 3 blue-green tendons (banded) in PB 179/180 Fixed by J.D. Steel • Missing 4 purple temperature tendons Fixed by J.D. Steel • 6 gold-blue-yellow tendons not per plan OK per e-mail with Mitchell and Haynes Whaley • 1 yellow pink uniform tendon missing a head Fixed by J.D. Steel • Tendon profiles not per plan and touching metal sleeves in PB130 Verbal ok from Mitchell with Haynes Whaley • Tendon profile too high at BB/30 Fixed by J.D. Steel • Incorrect chair heights, 41 to 46, YY to X • Missing back up bars along the western edge and at gridlines KK/42 to 46 We also observed the reinforcing steel placed for the slab and the beams. This reinforcing steel was observed for specified bar sizes, quantities, splice lengths and general placement within the forms. We observed several slab areas with missing top/bottom mat bars. We also observed bar missing from some of the beams. Pedro with JD Steel was notified immediately of these areas. J.D. Steel began working to resolve these discrepancies immediately, or they were approved by Mitchell with Haynes Whaley as noted above. Pedro with J.D. Approximately 530cu yds of concrete was placed for level 1 pour 7 on this date. The slump test results on 7 of the 11 trucks tested exceeded the specified 8-inch maximum.
