Wenger personnel had assembied the decks, in accordance with the manufacturers instructions prior to testing. The deck samples all consisted of a deck panel that is supported on a deck frame, supported in turn by frame supports, or legs. The deck panel consists of a single unit comprised of 48" wide by 96" long flat sheathing affixed to an aluminum frame of two end members and one center member spanning between two long members on either long edge of the panel. The deck panel is attached to an assembled superstructure consisting of six aluminum legs, with a resulting deck elevation of 40-inches above the floor. TEST PROCEDURES: Wenger Corporation personnel conducted the testing at their facility in Owatonna, Minnesata on March 31, 2005. Len Rasmussen, of Stark Twin City Testing Corporation, witnessed the test. The fotlowing is a summary of the test procedure: Construct the Wenger VersaliteT"' deck system and support assembly. 1. Place the test deck panel onto the support legs. See photographs 1 and 2. 2. Locate five dial indicators beneath the test system. Dial#1 is located at the center span of the outer 4'supp4rt. Dial#3 is located at the center span of fhe center support member. Dial#2 is located at the center of the panel between Dials#1 and#3, and Dial#4 is located at the panel center, simi(ar to#2, but on the opposite side of the center support. Dial#5 is located midway between the corner leg and middle ieg along the long edge of the assembly. See photograph. Zero al1 five indicatars. 4. Place the c!o#h covered airbag,which is approximately 48"wide by 96" long by 3" high onto the test deck and center it. 5. Lower the base frame, which weighs approximately&00 pounds(25 psf)onto the airbag. Assure it is centered on the test deck. 6. Add steel plates to the base frame one by one, record the dial indicators with the addition af each plate. Each of the steel plates is about 48"wide, 96" long and 5/8"thick, and weigh approximately 80Q pounds. As each weigh# is added, balance if necessary by adding addition � small loads(33 pound weights}to level the steei plates. The influence of the balancing weights to the overall load is ignored. 7. A total of nine Stee! plates are added, which in addition ta the base frame, b�ings the total applied weight to in excess of 8,000 pounds, ar 250 pounds per square foot. Acfual weight applied was approximately 8,114 pounds, nat counting four addi#iona! 33-pound weights added to one side of the weight"assembly" to balance it on the air bag. Note any indicatio�s of any impending failures or unusual perfvrmance or test variations on the test data sheet. 10.Add the air bag, base and four steel piates back onto the panef, and then appiy a laterai load to the center of the support frame along the four foot edge, taking load and deformation readings every 50 pounds. Deformation is measured with a steel rule that is fixed in place, using edge of the support as the reference point. Repeat this procedure, while applying a lateral load to the center of the support frame along the eight foot edge.
