Dear Mr. Haeberle,
We are pleased to transmit with this letter the Revised Glass Handrail Deferred Submittal
for Unit 701 Hot Tub Tenant Improvement. The 701 Hot Tub is located on Level 8 on a
portion of flat roof area just west of Unit 701 (Penthouse D-W).
Note the requested clarification on Design Codes has been added in a Note Box on Sheet
1.1. The handrail design is per IBC 2009, including Sections 1607.7.1, 1607.7.1.1 and
2407.1.1.
Included with this letter are:
1. One Transmittal Form.
2. Three Glass Handrail Submittals, PE stamped and signed, and reviewed by the
Architect of Record on 9-10-10, and Cover Sheet dated 8-9-10.

We are pleased to transmit with this letter VFES Comment Responses for the Unit 701
Hot Tub Tenant Improvement. The VFES comments are from your email on Apri15,
2010.
VFES Comment 1:
Plans do not show location for chemical storage.
Response 1:
The procurement process has revised the Hot Tub to a Self Contained Unit. There will be
no automatic chemical feed system under the Hot Tub as shown on SP4.0. Chemicals
will not be stored under the Hot Tub or in the Hot Tub area, see Response 3 below.
VFES Comment 2:
Chemical quantities and types are not shown. They did show a Chlorinator in the
mechanical space beneath the hot tub. The type, amount, and location of the chlorine are
important to us in the event they get water inside the mechanical space (below the hot
tub) which could cause a release of chlorine gas, as would an unintentional mix of any of
the other used to keep it in balance.
Response 2:
Bromine Tablets, Granular Bromine, and pH Decreaser will be used to maintain the Hot
Tub. However, these chemicals will not be stored under the Hot Tub. See Response 3
below.
VFES Comment 3:
Submittal of HMMP (Hazardous Material Management Plan) is required before issuance
of permit.
Response 3:
A Certified Pool Operator will maintain the Unit 701 Hot Tub. Bromine Tablets,
Granular Bromine, and pH Decreaser will be brought(from off-site) to the Unit 701 Hot
Tub in a regularly scheduled maintenance program.
