Minor Exterior Alteration
General Information: This application is required for all proposals involving minor changes to buildings and site im-
provements, such as roofing, painting, window additions, landscaping, fences, retaining walls, etc. Applicable Vail
Town Code sections can be found at www.vailciov.com under Vail Information — Town Code Online. All projects re-
quiring design review must receive approval prior to submitting a building permit application. An application for Design
Review cannot be accepted until all required information is received by the Community Development Department, as
outlined in the submittal requirements. The project may also need to be reviewed by the Town Council and /or the Plan-
ning and Environmental Commission. Design review approval expires one year from the date of approval, unless a
building permit is issued and construction commences.

Re: 1320 Greenhill Court (East Unit): Window replacement in living room kitchen
We built our residence at 1320 Greenhill Ct (East unit) in 1981. Most of the windows in living room
and kitchen are original and need to be replaced due to age, broken seals, and several cracked
panes. The window detailing has been susceptible to leakage and does not permit the easy
replacement of individual panes.
We have selected AIA Industries from Denver, a supplier of commercial grade custom windows and
skylights to install the new windows using energy efficient glass that exceeds the Town's
requirements. The windows will be mounted on the existing 4x6 & 48 structural members. The
fames and flashing will be dark bronze to match the existing windows in the home.
This project is limited in scope and involves only the replacement of existing windows. Therefore, we
request an administrative review and approval. I met briefly with Building Dept. staff to review the
project and receive application forms; they indicated that there would not be fee for the Design
Review because of the limited nature of the project.
The following information is included for review: (1) Project summary statement; (2) Application for
Design Review — Minor Exterior Alteration, (3) Joint Property Owner Written Approval Letter
(signed): (4) utility approval & verification form (note: no utilities are affected by the window
replacements); (5) photo sheet indicating windows to be replaced; (6) reduced floor plans and
sections indicating location of windows to be replaced; and (7) window frame details from fabricator
AIA Industries.
