Majority of terminal outlets balanced to well above
10%tolerance as indicated in Section 230593. As
unit total is over 2,000 CFM, code would require a
FG 1 X smoke detector. Design intent is for system to be
under 2,000 CFM. Rebalance system for terminal
outlets to be within 10% range.
Similarly, OSA CFM is above tolerance and should be
rebalanced to be within tolerance ran e.
Outlets 6, 7 and 8 appear to be obstructed or without
FC-4 X balancing means based on provided airflows. These
outlets and associated branches are to be reviewed

Dear Brando :
The Town of ail(ToV)Building Department has requested a letter from BGCE stating that the
makeup air p vided to the second level of the Welcome Center is adequate for both the Type 1 hood
eachaust and neral space ventilation requirements. This letter addresses one of the outstanding
items on the own's list and is to be provided before they will issue the Certificate of Occupancy.
Please issue i the appropriate format.
• The g ease exhaust fan was designed for 900 CFM; it was reported to operate at 936 CFM
per th Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB)Report.
• 2009 MC, Section 508 requires approximately equal CFM of makeup air be provided to the
space Section 403.2.2 of the same code allows air transferred from occupiable spaces to
serve s makeup air for exhaust systems in kitchens.
• The f n coil units that serve the second level, FG2 and FC-3, have a design total of 1,180
CFM utside air for general space ventilation; they were reported to operate at 1,240 CFM
outsi e air per the TAB report. When the grease exhaust fan is not in operation,the relief
path r the outside air is via gravity dampers at the exterior of the building.
• The s quence of operation for these fan coil units was revised so they operated and therefore
provi ed appropriate makeup air whenever the grease exhaust fan is in operation.
Per the refere ced code sections, along with the information indicated in the TAB report, BGCE feels
the outside ai provided to the fan coil units for space ventilation purposes is adequate for the makeup
air requireme ts of the grease exhaust fan.
