Mike McGee Four Seasons Life Safety Repo~rt~ Page 1'y From: Mike McGee To'[• Charlie Davis Date: 03/12i2005 12:41:36 PM Subject: Four Seasons Life Safety Report I reviewed the Life Safety Report. VFES has made the following comment: 1. The amount of wood proposed above 35 feet needs serious review. It appears they make be taking excess advantage of the intent of the code. 2. The proposal to eliminate dampers from toilet exhaust because it is allowed in a B occupancy may be allowed if the chase is fire rated. We need to discuss this. It appears this is the same approach RJA took on Arabella: eliminate the damper and put the fan on em power. Drawing heat and flame through a duct will only increase the failure rate of the duct itself. I think they missed the intent. 3. I am not comfortable with leaving the laundry and trash chutes undated. 4. I am not comfortable with a non-rated boiler room. 5. Again, RJA has not considered the pre-function lobbies as a possible separate use from the meeting rooms. 6. The have mis-classified the meeting rooms as light hazard. This classification precludes any road shows, conventions or other events with a fuel load greater than 10 Ibs/sq.ft.. 7. VFES will not grant any permits unless section J on page 19 is recended. Manual fire alarm pull stations are required by amendment. 8. Since thay are not willing to pressurize the stairwells or elevators, we will be paying particular attention to interconnected floors, drafts stops, and related elements. 9. We have not determined whether this building is a high rise or not. They do not think it is. We are not willing to sign the draft as submitted. CC: Fire_Inspectors
