We have reviewed the plans dated 01/18/08 under permit
608-0010. The comments are as follows:
new_construction_perm it_041908
1. Fire protection and fire alarm plans were not attached
to the set distributed to the Fire Dept. Plans need to be
submitted before any additional review.
2. No Life Safety Report was submitted.
3. No specifications were submitted.
4. Fire staging in the Lionshead Mall is not
acceptable.
5. No preliminary meetings were held in any
significant level of detail with the FPE and Fire Dept
prior to submittal. Therefore, no understanding exists as
to the approach to fire protection, evacuation (plan
require.d per IFC Chapter 4), emergency power, smoke
management or other aspects.
6. Code sheet indicates the building is 84 ft, eight
levels. From Lionshead Mall, this building is a
high-rise.
7. Type construction is suspect as to Type
III. See SafebuilYs analysis and review.
8. Fire flow has not been substantiated.
9. No fire dept access is available from the south
entrance. Turning radius is too small.
10. Significant elements may impact the Landmark Tower,
egress, elevator, fire alarm control panel location,
etc.
11. Where is the fire control valve room?
12. Plans should indicate North Day Lot development and
any"common elements" (sidewalks, egress, drainage,
utilities)that are intended to be shared.
13. Snow removal on north side should be shown on plans
or in narrative form.
14. Fire Dept strongly suggests a joint meeting with the
architectural design team and the FPE before
re-submittal.

The existing FDC's may not be accessible. Plans call for

Interconnecting the new standpipes will cause excessive

required.
The plans call for re-using the existing FACP. The
capacity of the existing fire alarm control panel may not
handle both buildings.
Fire department hose connections are required in the new
garage, both levels.

Per our telephone conversation, Schirmer Engineering is
under contract with the Owner to prepare the
pressurization performance specification and the modeling
analyses as you and he discussed earlier this morning. We
will be resubmitting the drawings today, with the
performance spec to follow early next week. The
subsequent modeling will inform the design team of the
mechanical changes necessary, which will follow as
deferred submittals. From our conversation, I understand
this process meets your approval and that you will lift
the fire departmenYs hold on issuing the building
permit.

We have reviewed the plans dated 01/18/08 under permit
608-0010. The comments are as follows:

1. Fire protection and fire alarm plans were not attached
to the set distributed to the Fire Dept. Plans need to be
submitted before any additional review.
2. No Life Safety Report was submitted.
3. No specifications were submitted.
4. Fire staging in the Lionshead Mall is not
acceptable.
5. No preliminary meetings were held in any
significant level of detail with the FPE and Fire Dept
prior to submittal. Therefore, no understanding exists as
to the approach to fire protection, evacuation (plan
required per IFC Chapter 4), emergency power, smoke
management or other aspects.
6. Code sheet indicates the building is 84 ft, eight
levels. From Lionshead Mall, this building is a
high-rise.
7. Type construction is suspect as to Type
III. See SafebuilYs analysis and review.
8. Fire flow has not been substantiated.
9. No fire dept access is available from the south
entrance. Turning radius is too small.
10. Significant elements may impact the Landmark Tower,
egress, elevator, fire alarm control panel location,
etc.
11. Where is the fire control valve room?
12. Plans should indicate North Day Lot development and
any"common elements" (sidewalks, egress, drainage,
utilities) that are intended to be shared.
13. Snow removal on north side should be shown on plans
or in narrative form.
14. Fire Dept strongly suggests a joint meeting with the
architectural design team and the FPE before
re-submittal.

We have reviewed the plans dated 01/18/08 under permit
B08-0010. The comments are as follows:
1.; Fire protection and fire alarm plans were not attached
to the set distributed to the Fire Dept. Plans need to be
submitted before any additional review.
2. No Life Safety Report was submitted.
3. No specifications were submitted.

4. Fire staging in the Lionshead Mall is not
acceptable.
5. No preliminary meetings were held in any
significant level of detail with the FPE and Fire Dept
prior to submittal. Therefore, no understanding exists as
to the approach to fire protection, evacuation (plan
required per IFC Chapter 4), emergency power, smoke
management or other aspects.
6. Code sheet indicates the building is 84 ft, eight
levels. From Lionshead Mall, this building is a
high-rise.
7. Type construction is suspect as to Type
III. See SafebuilYs analysis and review.
8. Fire flow has not been substantiated.
9. No fire dept access is available from the south
entrance. Turning radius is too small.
10. Significant elements may impact the Landmark Tower,
egress, elevator, fire alarm control panel location,
etc.
11. Where is the fire control valve room?
12. Plans should indicate North Day Lot development and
any"common elements" (sidewalks, egress, drainage,
utilities)that are intended to be shared.
13. Snow removal on north side should be shown on plans
or in narrative form.
14. Fire Dept strongly suggests a joint meeting with the
architectural design team and the FPE before
re-submittal.

The plans call for re-using the existing FACP. The
capacity of the existing fire alarm control panel may not
handle both buildings. �
Fire department hose connections are required in the new
garage, both levels.
The review of the design of the interstitial space is
held in abeyance until details in building construction
type are resolved with Safebuilt.
