You are probably right about the windows but I know it says we have to change all windows for triple pane that is why I thought it was on the other permit as every one else had to do this. Thanks for your help, Jane On Mar 17, 2011, at 10:49 AM, Lynne Campbell wrote: Jane it's my understanding that the windows are not included with the condo's exterior DRB approval it was only the stucco and stone work. The windows are in your approval for unit 6. The Town needs to know now what work you'll be doing on the permit you have in house now so the plan reviewers know what to review. That being said we need to know the valuation of work ASAP. We will get a bid for the windows and then deduct windows, stonework, and stucco from the $175,000, I presume we can settle this all at the end of the permit process, probably around $60,000. Jane On Mar 16, 2011, at 4:22 PM, Lynne Campbell wrote: Hi Jane, First let me say I'm sorry this process has been so complicated and on going. Below I have explained the various steps you and Joel have done to date and what items were paid and for what work. The Town has two separate processes for getting approval on exterior alterations and additions in the Town. Step one is the Design Review Board (DRB) approval for all exterior work and additions, processed through our planning department and step two is the building review for building safety and code compliance. The stucco work for your unit was approved under B06 -0165 the stucco work should not be listed on your personal building permit. Make sure your contractor or you call for these inspections: lathe, final planning and final building under the B06 -0165 permit number to close out this permit. Gros project: The DRB and building permits pulled under Richard Ste Marie are: DRB100423, $250 paid by you on 8/25/10. This fee is only for the planning step not building. You received approval for the work listed on the application (add 2 balconies, stucco and windows). B10 -0357 has no fees paid to date. This permit was applied for by Mr. Ste. Marie, was reviewed by the building and planning departments though never approved due to corrections required. Due to our review you are responsible for the plan review fees of $527.64 since we did the work even though the permit has been withdrawn. This fee will be added to your new permit Joel dropped off today. Michael Hazard paid $20.00 for the new DRB application on 1 /11 /11 for the main level addition at the rear of the building, renovating facades to match other units and add new decks per the application description. Again this is only a planning fee and not tied to the building permit. Today Joel paid $918.00 for the building plan review fees which are due at submittal. There is a remaining balance due at time of issuance in the amount of $5,506.43 plus the $527.64 for the previous plan review totaling $6,034.07. This fee is based on the valuation of work Joel list, $175,000. If removing the stucco work from your permit reduces the value let us know and we'll adjust the fees. If the $918 of plan review fees paid is more than you owe we'll apply the overpayment to the remaining balance due on the permit. If you have questions you can contact Warren Campbell, Chief of Planning, wcampbell@vailgov.com or 970- 479 -2148 for the planning questions and Martin Haeberle, Building Official, mhaeberle(cr,vailgov.com or 970- 479 -2142. I hope this helps explain the Town's process and where you are in it. Take care. Couple of questions for you: Joel was just in and paid $918.00 for the building permit, can you believe how long this is taking must be a record. We paid $250.00 on 8/25/10 which I think should be credited to us but when Joel mentioned this to the guy that took care of him he said there was no record of us paying anything and anyway if it was a 100 days earlier it would not count anyway. You know we paid this money and it is not entirely our fault that we did not get the permit last year. Could you check on this and if you remember the permit was always listed under Richard Schmidt and /or my name of Jane Barbara Gros revocable trust. Next thing: You are aware that there is a permit open at the TOV until 6 /2011 for the exterior window replacement and stucco and stone work. I don't think we should include these costs in our permit fees as this has already been paid by the Eiger Chalets several years ago so thought our cost of remodel should not be the full $175,000 that Joel stated on the permit. The guy he talked with said this morning that this permit did not exist but it does as I have a copy at home in Vail and it says the work has to be started and/or completed by June of this year. Could you find out if this is the case as this would save us about $50,000 in permit fees. Sorry to bug you about this but the guy Joel talked with either doesn't know what has gone on or doesn't seem to care, sorry to refer to him as this guy but don't know his name
