HomeMy WebLinkAboutDRB100056 Narrrtive March 2011 LH Minigolf March 2011 To: Design Review Board In April 2010 the Design Review Board granted Vail Mountain permission to construct an 18 hole miniature golf course in the Lionshead base area (DRB100056) with several conditions of approval. Vail Mountain is now submitting an Application for Design Review-Minor Exterior Alteration to narrow the focus of the project to 9 holes and a single parcel of property. All conditions of approval associated with the April 2010 approval would be adhered to in this new proposal should approval be granted. All other facets of the project are identical to the 2010 approval. As was the case in 2010 we are now proposing to construct a miniature golf course in Lionshead as an additional enhancement to our summer guest experience. This attraction would be constructed on the area refereed to as the Lionshead Children’s Ski School teaching yard located to the east of the bottom of Chair 8 and south of the new Lionshead Utility Building. The course would now offer 9 holes of play, a water feature, low level lighting for evening use and temporary Xeriscape type landscaping. The permanently constructed portions of the course would be accomplished in a low profile manner to facilitate snow coverage during winter skiing operations. The course has been designed and would be build by Harris Miniature Golf, Inc. who are one of the premier companies of this type in the country and have installations all over the United States. If the alteration is approved, construction would commence as soon as possible in the spring of 2011 for a scheduled completion before the July 4th weekend. The course would then operate into the fall of 2011. Future operations would commence on Memorial Day weekend and last through the end of September in subsequent years. We believe this attraction will provide additional excitement and enhanced opportunity for family enjoyment in the Lionshead area. Thank you for your consideration.
