Hey Dennis,
The Town of Vail Staff has reviewed the recent application to modify the landscaping on the west and south sides of Vail
Mountain Lodge. The following is a summary of the comments from that review (see attached red -lined plans).
• The existing trees have already been removed without final Town of Vail design review approval.
• The proposed landscaping plan must be revised to show all property boundaries.
• An encroachment agreement must be obtained from the Town Attorney's Office for the proposed stepping
stones located on the Town of Vail stream tract.
• The southern most pine tree to be removed appears to be located on the Town of Vail stream tract and not on
Vail Mountain Lodge's property. This tree must be replaced with a Hoopsii Spruce that is no less than 12 feet in
height.
• No mulch shall be installed on the Town of Vail stream tract. Instead, these areas must be re- seeded with a
Town of Vail approved native seed mix.
• The Vail Mountain Lodge's bike rack must be removed from the Town of Vail stream tract property. The rack
shall be relocated adjacent to the Vail Mountain Lodge building on the west side of their property in the planter
located north of the double sidewalks.
• Two or three #3 mugo pines must be planted on the north end of the planter located north of the double
sidewalks to screen the relocated bike rack.
• The existing bench and ashtray at the southwest corner of the Vail Mountain Lodge building must be removed to
prevent further pedestrian disturbance to the Town of Vail stream tract property.
• All trash and debris in the retaining wall and landscaped areas west of the Vail Mountain Lodge building must be
cleaned up.
