General Information: This application is required for all proposals involving minor changes to buildings and site im-
provements, such as roofing, painting, window additions, landscaping, fences, retaining walls, etc. Applicable Vail
Town Code sections can be found at www.vailgov.com under Vail Information — Town Code Online. All projects re-
quiring design review must receive approval prior to submitting a building permit application. An application for Design
Review cannot be accepted until all required information is received by the Community Development Department, as
outlined in the submittal requirements. The project may also need to be reviewed by the Town Council and /or the Plan-
ning and Environmental Commission. Design review approval expires one year from the date of approval, unless a
building permit is issued and construction commences.

Application for Design Review Minor Exterior Alteration
Please accept our DRB Application, the Application Fee of $250.00 and 3 sets of drawings as our
Application for the June 1, 2011 DRB Meeting. Mr. Fritch will have returned from his trip for this
meeting. The requisite PDF is being sent to your email.
We propose to extend the matching brick among the balance of the tenancies, add new clad
windows at The Golden Bear tenancy, new matching frameless doors and black metal hardware
at the three tenancies, modify the stucco canopy overhang, add new wood soffit and recessed
lighting, infill the exterior wall cladding with appropriate materials where the lower portion of the
soffit is being removed.
Most of the windows and wood veneers at the two adjacent tenancies are to remain the same
(except as noted) which will be sanded, primed and repainted for new overall appearance whilst
retaining the individual retail character for each tenant.
We propose retaining the Luca Bruno sign as -is, re- hanging the existing Charm School Boutique
sign on the new intermediate wood beam and installing a similar (though double sided) sign as
exists at The Golden Bear tenancy at the A & D Building (see photo attached).
We are preparing an exterior color rendering for presentation and will submit for Staff review in
about ten days. We will then provide an Exterior Color & Materials Schedule with Sample Board.
At the DRB Meeting, Mr. Fritch will be present to represent the interests of the building owner,
Kristen Busse and Lee Hollis will (likely both) be present to assist me in The Golden Bear proposal, as
may be helpful.

Hi Rachel,
Thanks you for your Staff review, assistance and support of our Application. We are all pleased with the outcome and
expediency of Final Approval in one meeting.
The following are the Names, Numbers and Uses of the colors & materials approved for the exterior of this project:
General Shops: The existing Stucco colors do not change and will be matched for color and texture for patching and
painting as needed.
The new wood beams under the new raised stucco soffit will be stained to match the wood beams/fascias that exist on the
Sitzmark Lodge. The steel connection hardware will be painted flat black.
The tongue & groove cedar siding on the soffit/underside of the Stucco overhang will be stained with “Benjamin Moore
MOORWOOD Deck & Siding Stain 070 Natural Cedartone 45.”
The balcony railing above the stucco overhang will remain as is.
The Golden Bear: All new Jeld-Wen Clad Wood Windows – Dark Bronze; all wood siding materials and trims to be
painted Sherwin-Williams #7514 Foot Hills.
Charm School Boutique: All wood siding materials and trims (except window sashes as noted) to be painted Sherwin-
Williams #0004 Rose Brocade. The window sashes will be painted Sherwin-Williams #7519 Mexican Sand.
Luca Bruno: All wood siding materials and trims (except window sashes as noted) to be painted Sherwin-Williams #7508
Tavern Taupe. The window sashes will be painted Sherwin-Williams #7598 Sierra Redwood.
Rachel, we are modifying the two color renderings to reflect the conditions of approval and will forward those to you by e-
file in a day or so.
