General Information: This application is to request tree removal in the Town of Vail. As part of this application, the
property owner may be required to replace trees that are removed. If required to replace, applicants must replant trees
by November 1st of the following year from the date of approval. Please be prepared to provide a tree replacement
plan. Please see tips for tree planting and species selection on next page. Design review approval expires one year
from date of approval.

RE: Tree Removal on Vail golf course
This is an attachment to the DRB review application submitted by the Vail Recreation District regarding the
removal of a tree located on the Vail golf course. The tree we are proposing to remove is located at the bottom of
the cart path on the stream bank by the number 7 tee complex. This tree is in jeopardy of falling into Gore Creek
as a direct result of annual stream bank erosion caused by high water run -off. The 2010 Spring run -off caused
significant stream bank erosion and has exposed the roots of the tree. If this tree were to fall it would lift the root
ball out of the ground causing significant damage to the cart path as well as subject the area to additional erosion
due to run off. The cost to repair the cart path and stabilize the steam bank will be significantly more than to
remove the tree and plant new trees elsewhere on the golf course. Please refer to the attached photos for
additional information.
