The initial comments were forwarded to us from you via email, and a copy of that email is attached. 1. Drawin� Size: Although we reviewed the "Building Permit Submittal Requirements" for both "Residential condominium remodels/additions (multifamily IBC buildings)" and "Residential additions/remodels (1/2 family IRC buildings)" on the Town of Vail's Community Development website, which we believe this repair project falls into and which do not indicate any particular sheet size requirement, we have provided stamped, signed repair drawings on the minimum size of 11" x 17" size sheets as required for permits for new residential and commercial projects. I hope this will facilitate the permit process. I must admit that I am disappointed it has taken nearly three weeks to receive a response from the Town of Vail indicating that the paper size is not acceptable; in my opinion, if this was a determining factor in calling for the drawings to be re-submitted, they should not have initially accepted them for permit. Nevertheless, I believe this will resolve the paper size issue. 2. Fire-Resistive Assemblies: The new beams and column do not need to be fire-resistance rated. This has been and still is outlined in our code analysis on Sheet 2. 3. �ecial Inspector: On Sheet 8, we indicate an epoxy-set threaded rod into an existing concrete column. We indicate that the Contractor is to retain and pay for special inspection if necessary, and that the Contractor should coordinate with the Town of Vail requirements). The Town of Vail requires special inspections of epoxy-set anchors (reinforcing). For your use, I have attached some of the forms that may need to be submitted to the Town of Vail to satisfy this requirement (during the permitting process and later during the repair wark). You will need to select a special inspector (I recommend an inspector already approved by the Town of Vail, a list is attached) and complete the paperwork, which will include signature of the special inspector and the Owner(HOA representative, Jeff Hanes). I hope this will move the permitting process along in an expedient manner.
