C. Conduit,GRC or Schedule 80 PVC,size as required.
D. Appropriate meter socket,as described in Sectfons 4 and 9,furnfshed and instailed by consumer.
E. When temporary service is fed from a 30 transformer(overhead or underground)meter socket shall have a fiRh ,
jaw installed in ihe 9:00 o'clock position and be attached to the neutral conducto�in the meter socket. y ,
f. Weatherproof receptacles and overcurrent protec[ion,as required by current edition of NEC.
G. Conduit must be securely attached to post per NEC.
H. Ground wire and electrode per NEC,furnished and installed by consumer.
I. Insulated bushing. GRC oniy.
J. Service cable shall be USE rated triplex(or quadplex)cable assembly,600 v.,#4AL or#6 CU minimum size.
Conductor voltage drop from transformer to meter shal!be limited to� See voltage drop chart in Appendix

K. Cable shall be buried to a minimum depth of 24 inches,with 6 inches of sand or rock-free dirt boih below and

5. Trenches to be in as straight and direct a line as possible. Routes through unstable
soil such as mud, shifting soils, or other hazards should be avoided.
6. The ends of the conduit shall be grouted to prevent the entrance of water, soil and
rock intrusion.
7. Removal of existing DMS is included in the cost for removal of Ground Mounted Sign
Structure and is not paid separately.
8. The Contractor shall contact Libby Cowling — Holy Cross Energy at leost 1 (one)
week prior to construction to identify and set the secondary conduit to the side of

1.Layout of anchor bolts in the caisson shall be approved by the Engineer prior to placement of
caisson concrete.
2.install controller cabinet at a height of 4'-6"from top of base piate to bottom of cabinet on side of post
away from traffic. Holes in post for conduits shall be shop drilled and shown on shop drawings.
3.The Dynamic Message Sign is to be installed 0 to 10� outward at the top of the sign from the
vertical position as shown on Standard S-614-50.
4.Assumed Dynamic Message Sign dimensions for design shall be per Standard S-614-50,and dimensions

5.Structure and anchor bolts shall be installed to orient the DMS perpendicular to the roadway

(24 Inch Diameter)
8.All cantilever sign support structural steel shall be painted in accordance with project special provision
519. Color shall be federal color number 595b#20059(Forest Service Brown). This shall be included
in the unit price for the cantilever sign structure and will not be paid separately.
g.The Contractor shall verify correct top of caisson elevation prior to starting excavation. Contractor shali
adjust top of caisson as required to meet minimum clearance requirements. Notify Engineer of all such
changes prior to excavation.
10.Contractor shall determine the elevation of the roadway at its highest point and guarantee that the
elevation of the top of the caisson will provide a minimum 18'-0"c4earance between the sign
structure and the roadway at its highest elevation.
