This letter is in response to you building permit comments.

Buildin� Comments I
1) The general contractor will install carbon monoxide detectors per code. This has been
noted on the plans.
2)Size of plans has been increased.
Plumbin�comments
1)We are including the entry level plan that was used as the site plan by the general
contractor for the last remodel.
2)The new gas line was sized and will be installed to service the new gas range only.
Isometric drawing is included.
3)We will use 1"black iron pipe and fitting for all outside piping. We may use 1"ward
flex piping inside the building if the construction of the building allows.
4)The gas line will be installed using normal installation practices accarding to code.
After the gas line is Installed, Tested and inspected a copper veneer pipe will be installed
by the general contractor to cover the gas line and make it more pleasing to the eye. This
veneer will be open on both ends and likely cut the length of the pipe so it may be fit over
the gas line to cover it.
5)In compliance with 404.12 all gas outlets not connected to an appliance will be capped
gas tight. Actually there will be no additional gas outlets. The under deck gas line will be

installed at least 3.5" above grade and protected from damage.

requested information with all plan revision items clouded or otherwise identified.
• Please respond in writing to each comment with a response letter addressing
each comment.
BUILDING COMMENTS '
Architectural Comments:
1. Annotate on plans that carbon monoxide/ smoke detectors to be installed throughout '
the house per sections R314 and R315 IRC
The General contractor will add carbon monoxide detectors per code.
2. Plans to b on a minimum of 11x 17 per Town of Vail submittal requirements.

Structural Comments:

Plumbinq Comments:
1. Provide a site plan showing the location of the proposed work. See Town of Vail
submittal requirements.
The plans provided are the plans from the last remodel completed on this property. The
entry level plan is considered to be the site plan.
2. Provide an isometric drawing showing that the gas piping system is adequate to
carry the additional load. Reference section 401.4 and 401.8 IFGC.
The piping was sized to supply this appliance only.
3. Clarify type of gas piping to be used and if it is listed for the proposed application. '
Reference section 403.1 IFGC
We will use 1" black iron pipe gas piping to run under the deck and up the outside of the
building. Inside the building we will either use 1" black pipe or Wardflex pipe depending
on the building construction.
4. DRB application indicates the gas line is to be installed in a copper downspout.
Please clarify. How is the gas line to be installed without fittings in a concealed space?
How is the gas line to be attached per manufacturer's criteria? Is the gas line listed for
this installation? How does this affect the roof drainage system? Please address all
these questions by showing compliance with the IFGC. Reference section 404.3 IFGC.
The gas line will be installed according to code. After all gas piping is completed,
Tested and Inspected the general contractor will install a FAKE downspout over the top
of the instatled piping open on both ends and likely split the length of the pie to make
the pipe look like it is a copper down spout instead of a gas line.
5. Clarify installation under deck to be in compliance with section 404.12 IFGC
In compliance with 404.12 all gas outlets not connected to an appliance will be capped
gas tight. We were unable to find a specific code related to under deck gas piping other
than 404.7 discussing the installation of gas piping above ground outdoors. To compty
with 404.7 we will install the gas piping at least 3.5 inches above grade and protected
from damage.
Mechanical Comments:
1. Clarify that a new kitchen exhaust hood is not required and what the CFM of the
existing hood is versus the cfm needed for the new range. If it exceeds 400 cfm outside
makeup air is required. Reference sections 505.1 and 505.2 IMC
A Draft hood is not required per the manufacturers specs
2. Show location of the proposed appliance and gas termination on floor plan.
