Minor Exterior Alteration
General Information: This application is required for all proposals involving minor changes to buildings and site improve-
ments, such as roofing, painting, window additions, landscaping, fences, retaining walls, etc. Applicable Vail Town
Code sections can be found at www.vailQOV.com under Vail Information - Town Code Online. All projects requiring de-
sign review must receive approval prior to submitting a building permit application. An application for Design Review
cannot be accepted until all required information is received by the Community Development Department, as outlined in
the submittal requirements. The project may also need to be reviewed by the Town Council and/or the Planning and
Environmental Commission. Design review approval expires one year from the date of approval, unless a building per-
mit is issued and construction commences.

• You will need to get a letter approving the reconstruction of the deck and addition of a hot tub from your
neighbor — the town planner said an email was sufficient. I attached a couple of photos so you show them what
it will look like.
You need to provide a letter (email) authorizing me to apply for Design Review Approval of the deck.

Deck repair and hot tub addition
Dear Sir or Madame:
Enclosed please find an Application for Design Review - Minor Exterior Alteration for the west half of the
duplex located at 1359 Greenhill Court. The owner, 1359 Greenhill Court LLC (Mr. Solomon Leftin),
would like to repair the small deck at the rear of the duplex and add a small hot tub. The repairs to the
deck will entail removing and replacing the surface material and adding additional structural joists to
support the tub. The size and appearance of the deck will not be altered by this work. I have included a
photograph of the deck with the proposed hot tub placed in the proposed location for clarification.
Please note; the tub has not been filled or connected and is inoperable at this time.
I have attached two emails to this application. The first is from Mr. Leftin authorizing this application,
and the second is from Mr. Richard Meister (owner of the adjoining unit) approving this application.
The application fee of $20.00 is enclosed.
