Dear: Mike:
The following is our response to the plan review comments:
1. Plan note 5 on page 1 indicates the PRV's will be set at 130psi. Notes on page
2 indicate the PRVwill be set at 150psi. Please resolve apparent conflict. The
note on sheet 2 was incorrect and will be changed to 130 PSI. This will prevent u:
from over pressurizing the system with the pump pressure.
2. Page 14. Retail shops do not have isolation valves as discussed. Recommend a
common feeder main for the retail level with isolation valves per shop. The
Fire Department will not allow the entire floor to be turned offfor
maintenance, remodel or revisions. Under the current design no TCO will be
granted on that floor ifthere are unfinished areas that will require the fire
sprinklers to be turned offto complete the work. We are working on feasibility to
make this change, the routing of the sprinkler systems are through steel beam
penetrations which makes it very difficult to add supply mains for each tenant. Al
present one control valve will isolate as many as (5) tenants at one time.
3. Page 24 Apparent cold solder issue exists in Laundry. These sprinklers are up
the steel beam pockets where they can not wet one another.
4. GENERAL NOTE: Slope is not shown on all locations. Plans are not on
reflected ceiling plans. Some areas appear to have cold solder issues, possibly
due to the lack ofRCP's. We are using the reflected ceiling plans given to us
from the architect. Some of the ceiling layers are turned off for legibility. Let
know where you are having problems with the ceiling information and we will
add to the plans. All of the ceiling slopes were taken into consideration when we
were laying out the sprinklers.
5. Page 33, Unit 401. Graphics are unclear compared to legend. Heads are
undistinguishable from 90 degree elbows on sloped ceilings. Plans are in color
but legend is not. I apologize for the graphics on the riser nipples in unit 401.
outside circle should not have printed. This was autocad programming problem.
We have fixed the problem and I can reprint this drawing if you would like.
6. Page 37 Ifblue lines indicate slope, the dimensions were left of /the plan. The
cyan colored lines represent the steel beams and the blue lines represent
ductwork. I can tum them off so they don't show up on the drawings. We show
them for the installers to take dimensions off the steel beams. Dimensions will bf
added once we complete the coordination process is completed.
7. Page 41 Please review spacing to insure sufficient pressure to provide
coverage. Intended coverage is not shown on plan. We have made corrections to
sprinkler spacing in unit 504 where sprinklers were shown 9 ft from wall.
8. Page 43 Unit 515 Review coverage. Appears there are some holes in coverage.
Sprinkler coverage in this unit has been corrected.
9. Page 46 Slope is not shown. We have added ceiling slopes to the plan.
10. Page 67 Fire pump suction side should not have valves within 8 -10 diameters
ofthe inlet due to turbulence. Reconfigure or provide manufacture's
specification. We are proposing to relocate the backflow device, pressure
reducing valve, and check valve to another room on level 1 in the parking garage.
11. Request meeting with Steve Martin and Dave Leiker to go over backflow issues
and layout on Page 67. We have a meeting scheduled with you on Thursday.
