Volume of water in piping approx. 270 gals. Flushing shall be done in accordance with NFPA 13 / Chapter 10. The means of flushing shall be done in general compliance with Figure A.10.10.2.1, utilizing the fire protection system's FDC piping with check valves removed and balance of system disconnected from the piping being used to flush the underground piping. Flow rate to be a minimum of 2,440 gpm as required to produce a velocity of 10 ft/sec (Table 10:10.2.1.3). Rate to be verified using a pitot guage registering a pressure differential of 5 psi, reference All State email of Oct. 12, 2006 attached. The water main bacterial test was performed on 9/7/05, pressure tested on 9/9/05 by Gould Construction, witnessed by Chuck C ERWSD , see attached, and flushed into our excavation. Therefore the water which will be used now to flush the piping is Eagle River Water Systems, which per Fred Haslee, has a residual chlorine content of 0.9 to 1.2 mg /1. Shaw Construction proposes to dispose of our flush water via the following method: Run 6" discharge pipe from approx. FDC connection to the S. Frontage Road curb flow line. Discharge water using a 90 degree elbow, turned approx. 20 degrees above horizontal, from the inlet location at the west side of loading dock entry to the east. By aerating the water via splashing and allowing to run back down the curb line to our storm drain line along Frontage Road which is connected to the Spraddle Creek drainage, the residual chlorine will be reduced to acceptable levels. During the flush test, Shaw Construction proposes to close the south lane of traffic on S. Frontage Road in accordance with the attached traffic control plan. Test will only be conducted if the ambient temperature is above 40 degrees. 300 Kalamath St. 303.825.4740 Denver, CO 80220 Fax 303.825.6403 lij 002/014 11/21/2006 TUE 11:50 FAX 426 NFPA 13 /Chapter 10 - Underuround Piping EXHIBIT 10,4 Object Trapped in a Dry Pipe Sprinkler System.. a 003/014 Wye or Siamese connection with clappers removed 4-in.
