Subject: Sound Levels
Hello Chris and Clyde,
The noise generated by the new gondola station and compression tower 1 will be significantly less than the old lift. The
design of the new station is many generations advanced from the old Vista Bahn technology. The open station enclosure
of the Vista Bahn allows most of the machine noise to reflect out towards the ground and it's sheet metal construction
does little to absorb or contain it.
The new gondola has a state of the art station enclosure that fully envelopes the gondola station machinery. There are
only small openings that allow the cabin grip and hanger to enter and pass around the station. The construction of the
station incorporates sound absorbing materials including a full underfloor that is made of wood planking and insulated
side and roof panels.
The compression tower #1 will be much quieter because of the modern sheave assembly and grip design. The sheave
wheels which are much larger in diameters and spaced such that lifting during the grip passage requires less
articulation. The grip entry and exit ramps are also long to provide slower sheave reaction which results in slower evener
movement. The cabin connections to the grip and hanger are supported in rubber to further lower noise.
Some of the highest levels of sound coming from the current Vista Bahn is from chair component rattles as they ride
through tower 1. The older chair designs didn't incorporates any of these new design concepts.
I hope this helps with your concerns but I can assure you that the new gondola will be significantly quieter than the Vista
Bahn.
