Vail Racquet Club — Condo Bldg 9
Walkway Improvements
Unlike most of the other condo bldgs, Bldg 9 has steps
going down from the parking area in front of the bldg to
the stairtower entrance walkways. These steps can be
hazardous with snow and the lack of grade causes puddles
and ice problems.
The plan is to replace the Bldg 9 concrete entrance
walkways with pavers (same Pavestone Plaza Series winter
blend color pattern to match new walkways as shown
here for the Club building entry walkway). Grade will be
modified to eliminate steps.
Vail Racquet Club — Condo Bldg 9
Walkway Improvements
Bldg 9 is the only condo bldg that
has a timber retaining wall in front
like this. The timbers are in poor
condition (mostly damage from
snow plowing operations).
Bldgs without timbers in front (just
grass landscaping rolling down from
the asphalt) perform much better
and eliminate the falling hazard
associated with the timber wall.
The asphalt in front of bldgs 9 & 10
is to be replaced this spring.
Eliminating the timbers and the re-
grading/re- landscaping work is to
be completed as part of that work.

This is the south end of the walkway between Bldgs 9 & 10,
ending in the parking lot. All the steps can be eliminated by
swinging this end of the walkway a few feet to the left (it will end
in the grass area where you see the boulders).
This area of the walkway will be demoed, fill brought in to raise &
smooth the grade. The walkway will then be restored, swinging to
the left with gentle curves, eliminating steps & timbers. Finally,
the landscaping (lawn, flower beds & boulders) will be restored.
This walkway will remain concrete for now (the plan is to convert
it to pavers when back patio areas are replaced).
